Re: My first long swim

A detachable board leash would've kept the board from drifting away, no?

Re: A kite without an experience

Trainer kites are totally useless for learning to kite, because they share little with a real kite. It's like using a skate to learn how to drive a car. It's a big scam.

Get a smaller real kite and learn in light winds.

Re: A friendly warning: don't kite in Singapore

... I must commend you for this civil tone though, so unlike the brat in your home turf. Can't help but reminds me of my dog which acts so mean and nasty inside the yard, but becomes a total pussy outside her pissing ground. @ Mr chew : That was seriously Funny ; and if you ever come to Las Vegas ,...

Re: A friendly warning: don't kite in Singapore

I totally understand and agree. Are there signs at the beach making people aware of it? And where to buy a permit if one wants to Kite there?? I was the one that post in the FB group (kiteboarding Singapore!) that Mr. Chew ( btw he is not from Singapore and I am sure have not kited here before ) go...

Re: A friendly warning: don't kite in Singapore

Simply asking these kinds of questions at their forum would invite snipes, name calling, and outright threats. "You came to my country, you should know" "We're not here to answer your stupid questions" ... would be the kinder responses. As my topic goes, best to stay away. If you actually did that,...

Re: A friendly warning: don't kite in Singapore

What are their rules ? I can't believe my first post on the forum is to respond to such a load of bollocks. Singapore has pretty much two spots which we try to enjoy during the year. When the wind comes from the south east, we kite in East Coast Park, which has pretty much no rules. When the wind c...

Re: A friendly warning: don't kite in Singapore

What are their rules ? I think it involves some lecture on the history of the country, after which my brain shuts off. Don't know, don't care, too many brain cells to waste for subpar winds. If you don't know and don't care, it goes to show your attitude and respect to the local community and rules...

Re: A friendly warning: don't kite in Singapore

I heard that wind in Singapore is a sad, cruel joke. Go across the straight to Malaysia where I think you'll find slightly better wind and a more friendly/relaxed crowd. Or go to Vietnam (do a google search) Maybe the frustration from lack of decend winds triggers the hostility from the locals :arg...
