Re: Rider weight versus foil classification (wind range)

I ride the biggest Naish surf thrust for my 100+ kg's....

But I recommend the medium to 80kg guys because they struggle with lift of the beast when starting.

Re: Shinn el Stubbo Zeeko Aluminium 90cm Hydrofoil

Hi all, has anyone ridden the Shinn el Stubbo Zeeko Aluminium 90cm Hydrofoil? Would you recommend it? I'm looking to get into foiling. Have never foiled before but don't want to waste time on a 30 or 60cm mast, just want to get one hydrofoil for freeriding when the winds too light for wakestyle/the...

Re: Race lines

I am running 32m lines with my 13.4m kite and I think it goes as well as my 17m on 20m lines. I would be down around 8 knot mark because of the long lines.

Out of interest, Matteo, what is your weight, board, wind speed, kite type when you are using your 5.5m kite?

Re: 12m or 14m Slingshot Rally for 200 lbs riders ??

You can compensate with skill and experience to a small degree but yes, you're still at a disadvantage and no, it's not psychological. Gear is the equalizer. Having to constantly work a kite to keep moving inevitably means there's not enough wind to have "fun", by definition. Actually, I think he's...

Re: 12m or 14m Slingshot Rally for 200 lbs riders ??

My comments are totally subjective, but.... I am 105kg (a touch heavier) and I would be going the 14m and a cruiser size board (50×150, perhaps a slingshot glide) to start with. You need to give yourself the best opportunity possible to get your flying skills down. Once you can stay upwind and you a...

Re: Timing when carving

I think the timing becomes more critical in lighter winds as well. I nearly always start a session with an "up loop" turn to see if there is enough wind strength to support it without dropping the board onto the water. The lighter the wind, the later I have to wait to initiate the turn on the foil a...
