Re: Foil Kite tuning tips

Yes "kitexpert" we all now know you think you know more than Mr Armin Harich. BTW where is your Flysurfer company that makes cutting edge foil kites? Oh you don't have one, you just make tubes. 1) kite changes AoA 2) kite changes camber (if it is designed to do so) 3) some mixer adjustment (preset) ...

Re: Foil Kite folding in half when going upwind!?

Well the kite is not folding in half is it? So it appears fixed in that regard. There appears a tip issue with associated bridle issue there. I think he hasn't lengthen Z to have the same effect as he had in the picture, where B appears 1.5cm shorter. Lengthening Z more may improve the tip but it is...

Re: Bar interchangeability with foil kites

You can use almost any bar with any kite. There is a some specific things with foils that make a bar better. The larger foils need much more trim range than any tube kite and the rear line leaders need to be quite thick like the doubled line on flysurfer with some balls. You can use a strap instead ...

Re: Tube vs Softkite - an epic battle?

Yes Tube is better in wind shadows. But if you can launch a tube then you can launch a foil. If you can stand where you launch even easier to launch foil. You can inflate and launch on the water. Packing a foil on the water is quite a bit harder than tube, but not impossible. Many people kite with f...

Re: Tube vs Softkite - an epic battle?

95% of launches I make are not suitable for foil kite. Countless drift launches and self landings, It's my opinion and experience, but I think foils are far superior in self launch/land and drift launching. The places I have and can self land are quite surprising. Can even do it onto a space just b...

Re: Marginal wind kites ?

No way you can fairly compare power of race vs freeride kite. FRS looks really good for surf, except lighter weight would always be nicer for drift.

Re: Foil Kite folding in half when going upwind!?

4cm for Z sounds like less than what you had set before. It should be 4xB, B looked 1.5cm, so 6cm, but I am guessing. Important thing is you play with the length till you are happy. Kite looks fine in first vid, length of Z seems conservative. Second vid tip collapses a bit, may be light wind, but b...

Re: Flysurfer Soul

The problem with inflatables in very light wind is their weight and worse L/D is too much to make them fun to use. If you struggle to go upwind or kite falls straight out of the air, that is not fun. Hydrofoils open lightwind a lot more for tubes, but then they do the same for foils.
