Re: What to look when buying a used foil kite?

Inspect the canopy stitching for loose threads, torn seams, or any needle holes that have conspicuously enlarged where the thread penetrates the canopy in the stitching. Check for any pinholes in the fabric, the best way to do this is to get the kite in the air then fly it in front of the sun to see...

Re: Fuselage length

The general trend I've seen is decreasing fuselage length, increased stabilizer area, and struts mounted further back on the fuselage. This has created a generation of foils that are simultaneously faster and more maneuverable while also being more pitch stable.

Re: Tuning

To be fair, I think the "adjustment" on an ML is just replacing the entire lower section

Re: Tuning

But they are not fixed, any of them, are they ? I believe you can shim the stab on all foils, as none of them are made in one piece. 8) PF Enata/Banga, Mike'sLab, Delta, KFA, probably a few others all have race models with fixed front wing/stab/fuselage. With some of them you can shim the strut to ...

Re: Trouble with kite lines

Looks like that setup doesn't use what we call "kook proof connectors." Kook proof means that the front connectors, for example, would be "male" and the rear connections would be "female." Then, your lines from your bar would have corresponding "genitals" to connect to the kite, making it impossible...

Re: Tuning

This is one thing that I don't get on fixed front and rear wing foils.... some people prefer rear foot pressure others front. With it being fixed there ain't much you can do, and the worst part is that you don't know what the foil will feel like if it had more or less incidence I'm not aware of man...

Re: Tuning

If you have a 2 piece like Banga/Enata/Mike'sLab/Delta/Spotz Tuna you can also shim the junction where the bottom of the strut interfaces with the fuselage to pitch the whole lower section up or down accordingly.

Re: Tacking! More Power Scotty!!

Watch a race video from somewhere with terrible wind like China or Oman, all the top guys have mastered the exit pump and do it prolifically in the really light stuff to stay on foil. It's less obvious when riders are powered up.

Re: Hi Toby, your site sucks at UX

Hey OP, does the site suck at UX or does it just not conform to your design standards? Not going to disagree with your aesthetic points, but if the site generates traffic and ad revenue while people engage in lively discussions of the topic at hand, then it doesn't suck, it's just not as pretty as i...
