Re: Real risk to be hit by a lightening when riding

Lightning, sure, but lightning also usually comes with gusty winds and that's more likely to hurt a kiter than being struck by lightning (hence its use as an idiom signifying low statistical odds). This is what's going to kill you if you're out kiting in periods of high convective storm activity: ht...

Re: Which bar for petite person / shorter arms

Re: Hangtime kite for 20+ knot hydrofoil? Flysurfer Soul 6m?

Foil kites are a handful at really high windspeeds. For 20-25 knots I'd be looking at an 8 or a 9m, especially if you want to go flying.

It's funny that you're asking what business to start on Kiteforum.com. Check out the site owner/admin's life story, Toby's living the dream with the exact kind of business I'd recommend someone start in the modern era if they want to work soft/play hard. -Web forum with advertiser revenue and classi...

Re: Setting Yourself Up?

1) Cut your monthly spending as much as possible by reducing unnecessary expenses. Sure, making a ton of money is great, but the absolute size of your account is less relevant than the percentage of it that you're able to invest. So if you can live off $3k/month, that allows you to retire sooner on ...

Re: Speed 5 21 or Soul 21

Yeah, Flysurfer's weights rank in this order: Sonic Race, Soul, Sonic2, Speed. My take is that the Soul will be the most user friendly kite in their lineup, followed by the Speed, followed by Sonic, then the Race. I think you can more or less reverse that order to rank the relative performance, so i...

Re: Flysurfer-specific training?

And finally: to Mossy 757, I've thought about going to Virginia Beach for exactly that reason. Is it a good spot? I'm up in Ottawa so it would be a serious drive. I don't think we have any foil racers in town here so would be great to get some tips from the riders down there, if I could ever line t...
