Re: North Kiteboarding Issue 11/2017 - Foil

I like the statement of “some reports of lift off at 8 knots”. I think you would like to use some more empirical data to lay claims to a wind range. Yeah empirical they do, as there are much more "some reports ..." statements, for example this one: https://www.northkiteboarding.com/blog/?id=TE2r5kU...

Re: Line length advice needed for 15m R1V1 on foilboard

Hi David, line length is a very personal / style / conditions question. 2 Years ago I was very big friend to go with very small race kites in no wind, but on up to 27 m lines. All on Foil-Raceboards. Last year I tried my 15 m² Chrono down to 12 m lines by 1 m steps. Actually I landed inbetween 15-16...

Re: Chinese KB Hydrofoil : 300 USD + shipment

My words as tautologies say. If anybody buys obvious copied designs, it is not done "to test it for the comunity" but just to safe money for himself while supporting and creating an at least immoral industry. What those say to the designers is: "I like your design, but I just take it and wont pay yo...

Re: Pocket board width

Hi Jyoder, I enjoyed riding my 95 x 38 cm board a lot. My next board will be 86 x 33 cm with an optional attachable nose and the wide will be smaller as also the old micro pocket had just 33 cm in the stance area. I am 62 kg and 1,68 m. You can also start in super light wind down to 6 knts if the wi...

Re: Monofoil or "riding stabless", setup and riding

@all: Thanks for the flowers :D @lovethepirk: Even if maybe nobody believes it: Clean landings without touchdown are easier on the monofoil as you are more free in finding a good foil entrance angle and even if you don't hit it right and you are pulling down a bubble, it is much easier to recover an...

Re: Monofoil or "riding stabless", setup and riding

Have made a quick and dirty video in very low wind, tried to improve stunt kiting skills, but this just requires much more wind than 8 knts. If it is more than 15 knts it is pretty easy to do infinity kite helicopters, till bar is blocked  and even to fly an foil kite backwards over distance, ...

Re: Monofoil or "riding stabless", setup and riding

For those maybe interested, a new try to put actually known advantages and disadvantage together to help decision if it is worth to confront with the biggest disadvantage, that you have to learn foiling once again: Easy learning: + stabi foil: Anybody with good kite flying skills can start learning ...

Re: Front M5 fuselage bolt from Moses Vorace and Comet getting loose

Hi nikalaitzian, don't think it is a genaral problem of named modell but maybe a bit of conical conections, which easily can be solved: IMHO it is often not possible to get those conections completely together just with the screws without to overtight them. Therefore the screws will get lose, when f...

Re: Mounting a hydrofoil on your TT

I am interested in a high performance twin tip with the ability to convert to a foilboard. Hi, I have done it and the same experience like the others. You will recieve a too hard twitip and a difficult foilboard, with - close to too or low volume - for sure too soft and too low nose - depending on ...

Re: When it's windy....

Also at our lakes, we are just foiling even in the rare cases of > 30 knts. Just get used with foils, with foils in higher wind waves and use smaller kites. :D
