Re: Xenon make kites now

I was chatting to someone a few months ago who told me that Xenon kites were very similar to North kites as they come from the same factory *wink-wink* Somehow the kites advertised on their website aren't just copies or NKB (or any other brand it seems) kites. I am almost disappointed by that...

Re: Kiteboarding Rules-of-Navigation Video

I am picturing a kiter ploughing through others shouting "starboard!" :-0 you could do it all day long mowing the lawn, on the trick spot. Epic! It's called match racing :D If you're so good at match racing that the others get upset and start yelling at you to get out of their way, it means you're ...

Re: Kiteboarding Rules-of-Navigation Video

It's fun to debate this stuff but in reality you can only rely on the very simple rules: [...] 3) port rider has right of way [...] You can't expect kiters to know much more than this. Quite sure it is the rider on the starboard tack that has the right of way in that case (opposite tacks crossing).

Re: Which helmet?

Whichever helmet you choose, make sure he tries it. You could buy the best helmet there is out there, if it does not fit properly it will be rubbish. In my opinion any certified helmet will do, which make you choose will depend on which one fits best. Also very important, adjust the chin straps prop...

Re: Kiteboarding Rules-of-Navigation Video

The one rule that dominates every other in sailing: Rule 14, Avoiding Contact A boat shall avoid contact with another boat if reasonably possible. However, a right-of-way boat or one entitled to room or mark-room (a) need not act to avoid contact until it is clear that the other boat is not keeping ...

Re: Board Size Question

You'll need more power to get going on a smaller board. This also means you can hold more power on the top end. Upwind will also not be as good as a larger board, but that depends a lot on the bottom shape of the board and size of the fins, and if you have a small board you will only ever ride prope...

Re: Learning Raley to Blind the hard way !

It does sound like having your hooked in blind riding and surface passes under control would help a lot. But then when you see a pro doing it in a video and it looks easy, "I can totally do this, no need to watch that pointless tutorial" On the plus side your nostrils have probably never been...

Re: Zeeko ultimate bar no clamcleat no depower straps?

With some clever use use of a spliced loop around the low friction ring you could make the setup look a lot neater, and more importantly make it safer. The way it is now, if the low friction ring breaks, you lose your centre lines. If you have a loop around the low friction ring with the line runnin...

Re: Kite companies - please stop the wakestyle hype!!!

Yeah, I also can't sleep at night knowing that people are having fun in a different discipline than the one I like.

We should also petition to have all other watersports banned because I feel most kiteboarders don't do other watersports.
