Not only pros do that. I do it too. If letting go of the bar is not enough (this should normally have my kite hit the water), I want to punch out immediately, and not in two steps. I have the same issue....maybe use one of these, while wearing gloves?

To be clear, I haven't tried it...I just went back to my openpalmed mittens. No burn, but quite cold :-(

Lindsey, i haven't been on a twintip in years, so I am merely guessing you'll be fine...it's the same designer. I'll see if I can find someone local (I live in the area) with first hand knowledge. Might be a while.
