Re: Strappless or Strapped for Learning to Foil ??

It is definitely lot harder to learn with strapless. Of course you want to keep straps as loose as possible. Straps tell you where you need to keep your feet. Straps also help with balance because you can direct the board by lifting your feet up also. However is it easier to learn first with straps ...

Re: How to build a bar? Just the rod/pole item ~60cm. Anyone done it?

Hi, Here is my build and my new plan also. OLD 22x25mm 60cm long carbon tube center and edges reinforced with 16,18,20 mm carbon tubes. I used 8cm long 10mm OD carbon tubes to make backline holders. I used epoxy to glue the parts and I used epoxy also to smoothen the center hole. I used dremel to sm...

Re: Chicken Loop Bye Bye?

About applying epoxy. You can apply the epoxy on the center of the carbon bar with long stick. You use carbon tube or something else right size to push the nylon bar in the middle. After you have pushed the rod to the middle you use alcohol (96%) and paper to clean all the epoxy that got stuck in th...

Re: Chicken Loop Bye Bye?

I only use trim when I launch the kite and if it is very gusty when I return to the shore. We have very gusty winds. The whole idea of this setup is to get as large bar throw as possible. My bar is about 15cm from my hip to 1m. With regular setup bar is maybe 30cm to 1m. So you have the same depower...

Re: Chicken Loop Bye Bye?

Hi, I wanted to share also my setup. I use BRM style safety setup combined with Wichard. Wichard I chose because I think it will handle wear far better than BRM style QR. Wichard is connected to my Jay harness and all kitebars have BRM style safety with it. I bought from local marine shop nylon ball...

Foil Kite tuning tips

Hello, I wanted to list here all the great tips I have found to fine tune your foil kite. This works for all foil kites, however tuning is easiest with ozone and flysurfer because they will publish their line plans. 1) Tuning mixer. Legendary video made by Armin himself. He also explains the profile...

Re: Jumping=new love of my life!

I tried foilboarding last year and I have to say it was the gear, not the learning curve that dissuaded me from continuing. Putting together a foilboard while the wind was blowing would often drive me nuts. However, boosting over 30 feet in ten knots has my attention. I have a full quiver of Flysur...

Re: Jumping=new love of my life!

I dont know much about wind speed. Point is that in same conditions you cannot kite even with light wind TT you can jump 10m with foil. Of course you time your jumps with gusts. So if base wind is 6-8 knots gust might be 8-10 knots. but in those conditions going with TT is just not fun. It is consta...
