Re: Surf Foils for Kiteboarding?

Peter, Do you have a shorter mast to go with those surf wings? I know some pro guys who won’t ride tall masts with surf foils. Surf foils react quicker on shorter. I use a 68cm mast on mine. It can be tricky when the wave size is bigger though 😃 Uuuh, can not say Dwight... Have only been out a coup...

Re: Surf Foils for Kiteboarding?

Out for the second day (evening) with the Ketos Surf wing KF660-1200. Wind was around 15 knots, and I had my smaller board, but a new 5 m2 LEI kite I wanted to try, so went out with normal lines (27 m for me) and it was spot on powerwise actually. Surprised how well it turned, and after putting a re...

Re: Surf Foils for Kiteboarding?

Peter do you still think that you get benefit from bigger board with this wing? I found big board not only not beneficial but detrimental on Onda. Also do you think that in stronger wind its easier to foil on smaller wing?. I feel like i need ridiculous small kites on Onda and after WS 6m2 sails wi...

Re: Who here is Kite Foiling?

Good to see these pics Bart. I think it works okay, it is just a very small wing, quite high aspect (and not a perfect "profile" of course). And such a wing is really really difficult to learn hydrofoiling on - this is why most are recommended buying a beginner foil first, even if they know they are...

Re: Surf Foils for Kiteboarding?

It is huge indeed, just over 50% bigger than the WaveXL with 1200 cm2 :D
Onda 633 is similar sized 1190 cm2.

The Ketos referencce numbers on their web is always giving Span-Area in mm-cm2.

The "Wave" wings are thus

Wave: KF500-570
WaveXL: KF575-790
SUP/Surf: KF660-1200

Re: Surf Foils for Kiteboarding?

I bought the Surf wing, a Ketos 660-1200, and got it today. Has been a Ketos SUP wing for some time, that now will be offered to kitefoils, given the demand from riders. Tried it with a 9 m2 normal kite in 8-9 knots on a Hover board (extreme lightwind board), worked great, turns quite fast for its s...

Re: Marginal wind kites ?

I am buying one (an ultralight Kitech FRS 12 m2), to see if I can move my marginal low end - we'll have to see if it does or dont :thumb: 8) PF Hi Peter I wonder if you have tried the Lecca Lecca Minima? Thanks Pete Hi Pete - no I can not try any of these, as around here most are either racers or f...

Re: Strappless or Strapped for Learning to Foil ??

My wife and I both wasted more then a day trying to learn with a hook on the front. I do not recommend it, you will get injured more by loosing control of the board and falling on the foil while water starting then you will using a strap. Use one or two straps on the front only. Leave them lose you...

Re: Strappless or Strapped for Learning to Foil ??

I'm learning now and tried firstly with strapless was a nightmare to get the board in position and spent say to much time struggling in the water ... a friend said yo use only front straps worked like an absolute charm 100 times easier and really fun , have the straps loose and your ankles willl be...
