Re: Large compact wings for surfing on a hydrofoil

Horst, how high can you go on a full on high AR racewing? The 30 degrees isnt in marginal wind I assume. When windy they all go upwind pretty well, no problem, it is in the low end and/or low powered you can feel the low AR (regardless of profile) go a lot less upwind, particularly with LEI kites of...

Re: two board quiver

I am trying to keep my board quiver to two. A hydrofoil is 2 boards in itself, with regards to how much space it takes up. So don't think you are getting away with space savings and simplicity by making a hydrofoil your second board. And technically, I only have the Liquid Force "Kitefish" which I ...

Re: Large compact wings for surfing on a hydrofoil

This all gets tricky because some big wings are thin, and from a surfers point of view, they suck pumping into waves compared to other thicker wings. That’s part of the reason no two people agree here. In general, I think the Naish L, Cloud IX P27, NP Medium, GoFoil Kia, are the largest anyone need...

Re: Camrig Gen4 for GoPro Hero-6

I’m also a big fan of the ugo mount. Started off with a beastmount but that broke on the 1st outing  Only issue I had with ugo is sometimes the inserts are hard to remove, particularly with cold fingers (probably because a bit of sand has got in). I’ve resolved this by drilling the ends and at...

Do the first half length of lines in figure 0 …then the second half in figure 8....it works great...combine them both

Sounds like a really good idea PullStrings - a tad faster and still locks the lines better when getting towards the ends :thumb:

Re: Ultra V2 or Nexus?

Thanks TomW! I did my share of time with RAM kites on TT and I’m not looking to get them. Got Sonic2 13m to squeeze more from the light wind days but below 8kt it’s hard work, especially when learning transitions, to keep them in air. I got 12m Ultra for it to be my low wind LEI. I must say Sonic2 ...

Re: Foil - wave riding

This topic is quite interesting - as it is posted in the "kitesurfing" forum. Most not foiling, have no idea about what its like to blast around and feel the waves on a hydrofoil :D Meaning, they only base it on "looks" and comparing to a wave/surfboard, which does not make any sense at all... Unfor...

Re: Fastest way how to set up your kite

Damn I like Kevin's videos and now I have to try to wind my lines without figure of 8 I tried it a couple of times, can not say exactly why but found it more annoying when winding lines up, if not doing figure 8's... It is also like everything sits tighter and better when figure 8 winding so less r...

Re: Large compact wings for surfimg on a hydrofoil

So, in same order as posted, of course profile and outline means a lot but the outer measurements are the first we meet and also crucial in terms of how fast they turn versus how lousy they go upwind. AR = span*span/area: Ketos 1200 ....... Area 1200 cm2 span 66.0 cm AR 3.6 Kenalu ............ Area ...

Re: Large compact wings for surfimg on a hydrofoil

The Ketos 1200 fits the same fuselage yes, and you dont have to stand further forward than with the smaller wings, a big plus. I use both 91 and 100 cm masts regularly with the 1200, quite often the 91 cm, as I use the 1200 more often in lighter winds where I dont need the 100 cm as much as when o/u...
