Re: wave riding: why isn't bigger better?

It seems like the current popular wave wings are in the 1100 to 1200 cm2 range. For riding small waves, when you are trying to maximize time on wave with depowered kite, wouldn't a larger wing be better? Anyone tried a really big wing in the 1400 to 2000 cm2 range for waves? They won't work well if...

Re: Got my hands on the Quark!

Disagree Ozbungy, I have lately found the linecams gives you EXQUISITELY good pictures very often :thumb: Opposed to helmetcams or chestcams, that gives you almost ZERO unfortunately… Two examples, my friend Ralf out here in Capetown: Ralf3.jpg An myself a few weeks ago here in Denmark: 20.jp...

Re: Who ride with sunglasses, and where?

For what little it’s worth here’s another small sample group. In the 2 places I ride the most, the Gorge & Mexico I see about 2% wearing sunglasses on the water. And one of those also wears a full face mask from a cancer scare so is probably more concerned/conscious about the sun. So basically, no ...

Re: Who ride with sunglasses, and where?

Hey Peter.... your Kiteforum dancing avatar wears sunglasses :coolshades: Indeed Calvin wears sunglasses yes 8) But not when surfing, neither do I... Years ago I wore glasses for a while, kitesurfing, it was a nightmare on waveboards when getting washed in a wave, and even worse, the impact when yo...

Re: How to self launch a kite

Awesome video, it shows the 2 ways we launch every day, most of us "experienced" at least - but I still meet many who have ridden for years, and dont know how to, so important to share over and over, thanks :thumb: Launching in the water is the last option - you risk getting lines tangled, can be da...

Re: Who ride with sunglasses, and where?

This is quite interesting now... You all say without doubt, that one should wear sunglasses because of the degradation and risks, at all lattitudes in fact. Yet, I still have to see even ONE doing this, in my 40 years of surfing??? Kind of a paradox, right? And the very reason I posted this thread a...

Re: Got my hands on the Quark!

The Noir Matter linemount also have one side that slides, just like the UGo, so works really well and it seems sturdier than the UGo so I will use this for a while definetely, before trying Quark on the UGo - there is no risk using this mount as I see it. But maybe the UGo will hold up to more bashi...

Re: Who ride with sunglasses, and where?

Of course the angle is important we all knot that, thus much stronger closer to the equator. But as I have never seen anyone using sunglasses on the water it could be three things: The spots I go to are major wavespots (CapeTown, Guincho and similar) thus almost solely tourists, where not as importa...

Re: Ideal foil depth for wave foiling?

Just to separate this topic from mast length, to take ride height and foil responsiveness out of the topic. How deep is too deep to get the most out of any given wave? Percentage of wave height? I think there is almost no thing as "too deep" in this respect :thumb: If we only talk about how to get ...

Who ride with sunglasses, and where?

Hi - just curious, as so many threads about this... I live in Denmark and we got 30 degree celcius (86 F) in summer, but noone uses sunglasses on the water, not needed and a PITA of course. On land yes, on the water - never. But in some areas some ride with sunglasses it seems, where, and is it beca...
