Re: Pansh Aurora II 10m - one item off bucket list

From the other thread : Just got a 12m Aurora 2, also in the ultralight fabric. First impressions: - Weight: 2.15kg - The fabric is much stiffer and crispy. Basically the same as good quality silnylon spinnakers. Compared to the standard fabric, the ultralight fabric should stretch and distort a lot...

Recovery options for offshore foil touring

"Don't go out further than you can swim back" is a dying concept in the age of the hydrofoil. And the buddy system is not especially helpful either... if the wind dies, your buddy is floating there with you; if your gear breaks, he can only help by returning to shore and requesting 3rd-party assista...

Re: Climbing harness on the water

4-yr bump: I'm a climber turned kiter, and prefer a big wall climbing harness in the water vs a waist harness (but will confess I haven't ridden with a modern hardshell harness- they do feel nice in a storeroom tho). With the climbing harness I feel that I can hold more power without getting pulled ...

Re: What hydrofoil board to buy?

From the other thread : I also tried the CRX by Neil Pryde (similar to Double Agent). With both the CRX and the Double Agent I had the horrible feeling of dragging something below my feet (like catching a plastic bag on my Sword2). I didn't feel the Double Agent had a good yaw either. My Sword2 with...

Re: Speed system / mixer test explanations

Enjoying the thread...

An unrelated but thought-provoking example: paragliders have their own sort of AoA control (speedbar, actuated by the pilot's feet)

Re: best foil kite for gusty conditions

The smaller Flysurfer Sonics work really well in gusty conditions. A high-aspect foil, really? (Maybe you meant it's gust-tolerant once you're hauling ass with lots of apparent wind?) The single skins are so incredibly light and have some curiously good stupid Gusty winds capability. Flew a 6m Peak...

Re: Wind meters?

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/61NITS4y8ML._SY355_.jpg You can find these for $20 on ebay. They're rugged and actually they're non-electrical: it's just a magnet inside, the headphone jack is just a convenient physical mount. The app is nice because it's graphing the measured spee...

Re: First Foil

For water use with a TT, I'd recommend setting your expectations low. I bought a 15m foil this past spring (the "Chinese Speed3 Lotus") because I was comfortable with foilkites from snowkiting, and wanted 10kt wind capability on water with a TT. Rode LEI's on water up to that point, biggest in my qu...
