Re: Knots - Matching those used by Cabrinha

Same problem with both of my line sets for my 11 and 16m xbows (2010). I took the loop out of both steering line pigtails and use the knots on the kite end wing tips for adjustment.

Re: First Foil

I'm a newbie to foils and I've got a Speed5 21m with 6 sessions under my belt. Launching and landing are to be considered especially if space is limited like my home launch. Mostly self launch. I am just now getting tuned in to the kite, finding the sweet spot. I'm 200 lbs. and can ride/stay upwind ...

Re: River Foiling

I would advise against using a leash as the board/hf might get caught on a submerged structure, tree branch, log, etc. and pull you under due to the current. It would be hard to disconnect it under those conditions.

Re: Who Has Right of Way?

Also the kiter on starboard should hold his course so the yielding kiter on port tack will know what to do and can take appropriate action (bearing off). And don't wait till you get too close to take action to avoid a collision even if you have the right of way.

Re: Identification Card

All good ideas, except for the tattoo. There's no good place to put it as I am so hairy (sasquatch syndrome).... :D
I'm going to create an i.d. card, laminated, waterproof, that I will keep in my boardshirts pocket.

Identification Card

I am thinking of carrying an i.d. card on me with emergency contact information on it in case I am incapacitated while out riding. Many times I am the only kiter and there is no one that knows me on the beach. I am getting old and am thinking about my mortality... :-? Anyone else in this situation? ...

Re: short lines and upwind kiting for newbie

At your stage do not fly your 17m in more than 10 knots. If you have a large shallow area away from everyone, that would be ideal. If you cannot take additional lessons, ask an experienced kiter at your location for some help. Do not fly your kite on the beach, get out in the water. Practice water l...
