Re: I hate the wmfg pump

The WMFG pump is emblematic of the problem with a lot of new kitesurfing gear: a significantly improved design with one basic, simple flaw - the hose as originally supplied was too stiff causing the pump to "unscrew" itself. You'd think this would have been caught in pre-production testing ... but a...

Re: Outer Banks foiling spots

Thinking of getting a shorter mast to use in Hatteras with my Zeeko Blue & White. Would a 60cm or a 70cm make the most sense?

As long as you've got a well-stocked wine cellar ... you should be OK.

Re: Good luck Caribbean and South Florida

Seems like the Dominican Republic north shore, Haiti & Puerto Rico will be hit hard. Undoubtedly there will be serious flash flooding in the mountains. Hope all will be safe in Cabarete.

Re: Eleveight kites

Looks like a mold was re-tooled to save costs. The worst thing about this design is that it forces your hands more to the center which reduces your turning leverage. Not a problem if you have swallowed the " keep your hands in the center" freestyle idea. But it is problematic for waves when you wan...

Re: Hello-new member in Canada

If you really want to progress I recommend two things. 1. Take a Kite trip to a location that you can devote a week of kite training. 2. Learn to snow kite this winter with skis (you will progress much faster when you are back on the water) Exactly! Best thing would be to do 2. & then 1. A winter's...

Re: Cabarete - Anyone Stayed At....

If you're going with "the family" (age of kids?), I think it's definitely preferable to be closer to Cabarete than to be in Kite Beach. Millennium & Aqualina are posh (expensive) options - Ok if you're a jet-setting playboy like Toby. My choice would be Cabarete Beach Houses (Nanny's Estate). The lo...

Re: Modern wave kite

Yes, 3 strut wave kites were one of the real innovations in kite design made in the last 5 or 6 years of kite design. Fast turning, light weight, little pull in the turn, & drifting. All really useful things for dedicated wave riding.

Re: Are old kites/bar systems obsolete?

To put it in practical terms: I bought a quiver of Waroos in 2006. I used them for 4 - 5 years. When I finally landed my (very used 12m) in a tree & replaced it with a 2010 Best Nemesis - a "high performance" kite, fancy graphics, fancy materials (cuban fibre), elaborate bag etc. It flew like shit. ...

Re: Are old kites/bar systems obsolete?

The pressure/bladder/diameter question is a bit of a distraction. In principle, kite manufacturers would like you to believe that the next year's kites are an impressive improvement on the previous year's. They do this to encourage people to spend money buying new kites which makes their businesses ...
