Re: Old School Hand-Crafted Mast

Very slow going, but I finally got the wings and fuselage attached. Now the tricky part getting it symmetrical, and of course rideable.
Since this is my rookie build, I think I will carbon wrap the fuselage and mast as one piece. Getting a solid joint is tough!!!!

Lost: Kitemare in Barbados!

Alien Air board and LIFT Foil lost at sea after a Kitemare. I launched at Silver Sands kite beach, self rescued into Frieghts beach and Lighthouse. For awhile, I felt like Tom Hanks in Castaway. IMG_0657.JPG IMG_0656.JPG Strong westerly current. Unlikely it drifted ashore on the south side of Barbad...

DIY Paipo Foilboard

Fellow builders, here's my first attempt at crafting my own Paipo Foilboard (and surfboard). And yes, she has positive buoyancy with a G10 wing, as well as a Lift foil. Construction notes: 2 1/4" laminated cedar decks, glued together with 3M 5200 on a rocker table 2x 6oz glass Aluminum plate sandwic...

Re: Building my first hydrofoil

Nice rookie build Lev! What materials did you use for the board, wings, fuselage? More importantly, how does she ride?

Re: Old School Hand-Crafted Mast

Thanks for the feedback fellow builders. As I slowly progress with this project, I have managed to create more problems. While laying up the mast to the base plate, I managed to get the base plate out of level. It became especially aggravating when I couldn't draw a good vacuum and therefore creatin...

Old School Hand-Crafted Mast

Any suggestions on how to proceed on my Mast/Tuddle build up?
Wrap the mast with carbon first?, or build up the mortise/tenon end , then wrap the mast with lots of carbon?

Re: choice - (MHL) Lift NF2 vs. (LP) Silencer NF2 vs. Ghost Whisper

I just weighed my Lift, and it comes in at 6.82lbs./3kg.
Mast 3.86 lb
Wing/Stab/Fusealge 2.8 Lb
Hardware .16

Total weight does matter for 3 reasons: Swing weight, Inertia, and "Travel burden".
Something to consider gentlemen.
