Re: What got you into Hydrofoiling?

I'm another dinghy racer. Spent ages 14 to 16 racing Moths and Cherubs. Then learnt to windsurf at 18 and did that constantly until age 28 when we had kids and moved overseas. 12 years living in Queenstown NZ had me sink my teeth into snowboarding and fly fishing. Moved back to Perth, Western Austra...

Re: Nigel no mates

^ Would you tell Toby this? How primitive look his tricks? C'mon...You were never on 10% of his level (apologizes if you were). Even Plummet says truthfully that himself was never into tricks, just boosting. Be fair to yourself and say how many times we were approached with the statement: that look...

Re: Nigel no mates

For me, the difference between foiling and TT riding is that on a foil, the whole time you are up on the wing and riding, it feels good. Throw in a few s turns and you may as well be snowboarding in powder. When I rode a TT, the only real time it felt fun was boosting or pulling off a trick. The bit...

Re: Liquid Force Impulse review

A friend has bought a Naish Hover foil. This looks identical to a LF FF. Are they the same foil re-badged? If so, will the impulse wing work with the Naish Hover?

Re: Foiling foot switches

I went out again yesterday and practiced the toe to heel transitions. Wind was only 11 - 13 kts and I was on my 9m Catalyst. I managed about 7 from maybe 15 attempts. The hop swap wasn't working today initially so I tried a fast shuffle and this was better. I taco'ed onto the foil a few times and fi...

Re: Foiling foot switches

Well I'm happy to report that I went out yesterday and managed 3 toe side to heel side foiling foot swaps out of 5 attempts. I felt the key for success was to do them much faster than I do when going heel to toe. It was almost a jump compared to a fast shuffle. Much the same as I did when on a strap...

Re: Foiling foot switches

Hi Peter, Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed explanation of your method on this manoeuvre. I will try it with top turning the kite and not down looping which I do 75% of the time. I can see how it may be easier when taking the kite over the top. I tend to briefly pause my kite at 12...

Re: Foiling foot switches

Thanks for the replies. Good to know others find this switch more problematic as well. Peter - this is exactly how I do my foot switches toe to heel on my surfboard too. On the hydrofoil I have been trying them much later after the turn is completed, thinking I need to get the kite up to 11 o'clock ...

Foiling foot switches

I have been making good progress doing foiling foot switches going from heel side to toe side. Probably up to 90% success rate. However, I'm finding going the other way - toe side to heel side switches - much more difficult. Is this normally the more difficult switch to make or is it just me? Does i...

Re: Winter foiling

You Scandinavians are LUNATICS :o . If I lived in that climate I would take up a different sport - something that involved being indoors and a fireplace. Massive respect for managing to get out in those conditions and becoming as good as you are at HF'ing. I'll never complain about my "below 20 degr...
