Re: The Hot Shot - share your pictures

We have been having some great conditions in Malibu. 21/22/23 of July were amazing. I rode on the 21 and 23, but on the 22 I just had to get my camera out and shoot one of these great days! Here is my friend Klaus in one of the photos I took: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51271300545_a7ddf4cd5...

Re: Kiteboarding manufacturing shortcut leads to multiple equipment failures, accident and an injury

The main reason why line tapering is important is that a non tapered line causes the live weave to open up where the core line ends and sand/dirt can get in.
This chews away at the line.
It is good to use a little bow line wax on potential wear points and even tapered loops.

Re: We should be wearing sunglasses throughout the day and especially while kiteboarding! Why aren't we?

I use a pair of extreme spots protection. They fit and are held in place with my helmet. THey are great because they are designed to sit high with plenty of lens above your eyes, so great peripheral vision especially above. If it's late enough in the day and the surf is agressive where I need more d...

Re: The Hot Shot - share your pictures

Took this of my friend Klaus. To give this more proportion... Klaus is 6'5"

It was such an amazing day I had to stop kitesurfing and take photos.

Re: Helmet...no splat. No helmet...splat.

A helmet has less drag in water that a head with hair or even shaven. Why? How? Any reference to back this bold claim up? :nono: Very simple. Take that fake hairy chest your wear and glue it under your twin tip and see how much slower your board it..... just kidding. Speed boats have any algae/weed...

Does it not have magical capabilities Fred?

Any contact details for the makers of the super sexy water-skiing race helmet yet?
If you think a helmet is sexy you need to take some different hormones :nono:

Re: Helmet...no splat. No helmet...splat.

Do the same experiment into water with a G-meter, at increasing speeds? High speed water-skiers that race at over 100mph all wear helmets. They are reduce deceleration when hitting water, especially helmets with holes or mesh on the surface. A helmet has less drag in water that a head with hair or ...

Re: Helmet...no splat. No helmet...splat.

Rocks at your spot....splat ! No rocks at your spot...no splat ! I work in the motion picture industry and we have to do specific training to work on sets because of all the lifting equipment and working high from the ground. Experienced crew members will tell you never to consider sand as safer th...

I think most functioning humans could work out that dropping a helmet, or indeed anything made of strong plastic, onto a rock from 8ft versus a watermelon is going to yield these results…

It's not about the helmet not braking, it is about the water mellon not breaking in the helmet.
