Re: light wind surfboard VS foil board

Both the Midwestern US and the West coast do make extensive use of that particular term. But thanks for that tid-bit.

Re: Correct stance on a waveboard for riding upwind

Quad vs thruster is important. The stances and techniques for upwind are pretty opposed to each other for each configuration. Thruster: 1. Ride with your body weight over the top of the board, not hiked out. This works great with strapless. 2. Keep the nose calm and pointed in the direction you wish...

Re: Feasibility of the ONE for surf, foil and kitesurf

Slingshot "Coupe" was billed as Surf/Kitesurf. But for my style of kitesurfing, it just seemed too big. If you are strapless, maybe it would make you happy surfing. But again, it seems a little big for good wind strength kitesurfing. And any board with the reinforcement can be made to work for a foi...

Re: light wind surfboard VS foil board

What if you kitesurf in 10+ waves? Would you still be sorry if you are on 6'2 step up. Especially, if you are tall and heavy. My 2 cents Good point! Guns are a bit longer with the narrow tail reducing the surface area rear, thus necessitating some more length out front. Thanks for the correction, b...

Re: light wind surfboard VS foil board

Matteo V , I think 3 and 4 are very close , the difference is the sector rider needs to know how to tack otherwise the big lwtt wins easy . I don't know if this is because I'm from windsurfing but for me directionals and surfboards are so much more fun even if the lwtt would beat me on an upwind le...

Re: light wind surfboard VS foil board

And what exactly is a "standard surfboard"? Thanks for pointing that out, and that is definitely subjective. Surfboards from prone surfing are divded into a few category's. Longboard, fun board, shortboard, gun - all of which have some overlap into different category's. "Standard" kitesurfboards wo...

Re: light wind surfboard VS foil board

But then again. http://emoticons.datahamster.com/scratchchin.gif iriejohn - Read the above a bit more carefully. Oh, I've read it with the utmost care even moving my finger under the words while my mouth moved. Same result, sorry. ... bla bla bla ... More obfuscation. Same result I have had quotes ...

Re: light wind surfboard VS foil board

If you are willing to develop a high degree of skill on a light wind directional, you can match and possibly exceed the performance of a light wind TT I agree But then again. Don't discount a light wind TT! I initially believed the lie about surfboards being better at light winds than TT's. But LWT...

Re: Manera Exo failure

I am pretty sure that the welds on kite gear are not x-ray checked. But that is standard for most pressure vessels and other life endangering or life saving equipment. That is why most kite harnesses say "not for jumping or gliding". Sometimes metal can fatigue when heat stresses are induced by weld...
