Re: Bad instructors - how to give advice on them

Specifically for Tarifa, but applicable for any spot with many lessons going on: go and watch on the beach! As a complete beginner, unknown to the sport, you are not able to spot all safety aspects. But you can already see big differences in how instructors work. Even just seeing if an instructor is...

Re: Cabo Verde: if windguru forecasts 20 knots, is it accurate or is there effect?

It can be a bit more but the forecasts in cape verde are pretty accurate.

Pretty much always wind between 12 and 25 knots.

So if you are cruising and jumping a 12m and 9m is all you need.

Re: Tips for learning to kite with a prosthetic leg.

Also -- a prosthetic is Dead weight, and sinks fast ; i would recommend using a minim 2-mil shortie wetsuit, for bouncy. The foot ankle is fixed, and doesn't do much but add drag when swimming ; so being able to just barely float is essential if it's a long swim in. The BEST part about the short we...

Re: Tips for learning to kite with a prosthetic leg.

Thanks for all the input guys! Winn will need to read the technical parts about the prosthetic maintenance. He is the expert on prosthetic legs between the two of us ;) He is using a belt to keep the prosthetic in place. It is well enough for when he skydives. A bit of kite line to connect the prost...

Tips for learning to kite with a prosthetic leg.

Currently I am teaching kitesurfing to a man with 1 above the knee prosthetic leg. In the hope to find information about this I contacted Bille and searched through the forum. Bille said let's make this a public topic and here we are: This thread is meant to collect as much information as possible a...

Re: Which Bar?

You can stop the backstalling by shortening your middle lines a bit.

The only real problem you can have when using a different bar is the height of the split. Some kites don't react well to a bar with a low or high split. Some other kites are not sensitive about it.

Re: Zandmotor Holland advice...

The lagoon is tiny with low tide. So high tide is best for riding in the lagoon. It's a busy spot with many beginners.

As far as I know there are no restrictions against kiting in the lagoon and on the sea.

I remember you have to walk pretty far from the parking to the lagoon.

Re: Thoughts on the Jamie board

I'm currently using a 2014 Jaime 133/41. Absolutely awesome board. Also the 2015I have used a bit. And it's just as good. Tested a 2017 model this summer. And even though it feels really different from the older models, it's still a great board. The 2017 felt much looser on the water then the older ...

Re: Windy family friendly new year?

Cape Verde! :) Christmas time in Dakhla is not very windy. And there is not much for the family. Cape town will have a lot to offer for the family. And has good winds. But not really close to Europe. Cape verde has very steady winds around this time. Normally between 15 and 20 knots. On Sal (the mai...

Re: High tech super foil

Man that looks like so much fun! How does he control the angle of the foil? And what happens if the kite pulls to hard on the foil and it surfaces? Looks like a helmet and maybe some body armour would be wise.
