switching feet on the fly

Looking for tips on switching feet while foiling in a straight line. You want some speed, you want the foil rising and the kite high. Anything else? Where should you first place your new front foot? Into the strap or more towards the middle of the board to help with pitch control. Which is easier: s...

Re: Countersteering

In fact if the analogy between turning a bike and a KBHF is accurate (I am not sure)... ...(the front wheel turns and actually initiates the turn) ... To be clear, I am not saying the analogy is applicable, I am just stating the analogy to see what others think. The front wheel actually turns in th...

Re: Countersteering

Just to clarify then, so your point is that introducing yaw in the opposite direction to the turn will help to initiate roll in the direction you wish to turn? yes that is the point he is making. In fact if the analogy between turning a bike and a KBHF is accurate (I am not sure), you must counters...

Re: North Pro-Foil board settings?

If you are new to foiling, you may want to start with foil closest to back of board and then move forward in very small increments as your pitch control improves. Thought as much. So the more forward the mast the more front foot pressure needed. Exactly. I moved mine forward 0.5 cm at a time as my ...

Re: carving to toe

When you are up foiling, you will accelerate like crazy when you downloop the kite, and your arc while doing this will not be a curve - so what happens is your kite turns towards the new direction, you continue downwind - and in a few seconds you will find yourself with slack lines, kite dropping i...

Re: carving to toe

The information in the thread is really a gem for someone who is working on this. I would like to stay with the downloop, if I may. To try and summarize what is being said: Riding left foot forward and gybing to toeside with downloop: 1. Head upwind with foil at mid-height and decent speed. 2. Bring...

Re: carving to toe

Isn't the easiest way to learn this is the be on the surface and downloop and just let the kite pull you around? Then when you are comfortable, do the same in the air. IMO no, as this will only teach you to learn to make an almost "normal" turn like you do on a TT or a surfboard, which is really ea...
