Re: Cloud9 foil feedback

I own both Cloud IX wings. I kite and SUP foil with them. I used to ride another brand. The guys who work at Real, ride Cloud IX, not the other brands they sell. This bit of info is what got me to try Cloud IX Yeah, they are pricey, but worth it, so they get those prices. High points... They are si...

Re: Riding Styles and best foils for curvy carving...

- Yes, racing and freeride - Pick a larger wing - Moses/Slingshot 633 or Lift 150/170/200 or Slingshot H4/68/76 - 30-35” mast is fine. 40-42” allows you to edge like mad. 24-28” are good for shallows - Pocket boards are fun and awesome - Any of above setup options works behind a boat great Aluminum...

Re: Large compact wings for surfimg on a hydrofoil

It seems the first popular wings in this category were around 1100-1200 cm2. Now I see more people kiting on 1400-1500 cm wings. Mine is 1126 (LF Impulse). I wonder if a bigger wing will be even better for small waves. You get more glide, need less power and speed. So yeah :) That sounds good :D . ...

Re: How good do you have to be to foil?

Like many things in life, success will come with enough motivation and persistence. Once you start foiling, try to foil as much as possible and do not go back to twintip or directional. Also pick your kite size carefully. It is easier to learn when well powered. Don't use kite size guidelines writte...

Re: New foiler- straps setups

To answer a few posted questions. The super long Liquid Force straps are the ones that are supplied with the Galaxy Board. Should be able to buy them separately. As far as foot hooks breaking. The older NSI ones broke easily. The newer ones (clear plastic) are stronger. They changed the plastic.

Re: Flysurfer Soul

I didn't really like it, but can't fault it since below is very personal feeling. Here is why: - quite high bar pressure - quite slow, well not quite, sloooow. 12m, 15-17kn - doesn't pivot (like I would expect from a Sonic and R1 background)* - feels like a truck pulling me - upwind on TT is averag...

Re: A case for full face?

in kiting is you have a power source that pulls you away from the foil in wipeouts. A frequent issue (discussed by many here) is the board chasing you down after a forward fall and striking you in the head with speed, while you're floating in the water. ie: my avatar ;) This behavior is very foil d...

Re: Suggestions on which "neutral buoyancy" foil to get.

There are also a disadvantage of "floating foils" as they tend not to be so easy retrievable after a crash, so not always a win-win eventhough lighter is in general better yes :( 8) PF I have found the opposite to be true. With a "sinking foil", after a crash, the foil goes vertical and shoots down...
