Re: Red itchy eyes *only* in warm/tropical water (even with goggles), why?

OP, when you look at the eye, is the red area the part of the what part of your eye that isn't covered by eyelids? Or are the whole eyeball red? If a line across your eyeball is red then I will still say its the sun. The whole eyeball is red, i.e. also the section covered by the lids. It doesn't se...

Re: Red itchy eyes *only* in warm/tropical water (even with goggles), why?

It's definitely not the sunblock. I know the feel of cheap sunscreen running into your eyes, it typically happens early in the session and you don't just feel it when being underwater. I'm using the same super waterproof/sticky sunblock (Aloe Gator) back home when I kite in hot inland destinations (...

Red itchy eyes *only* in warm/tropical water (even with goggles), why?

As the title says, whenever I kite in very warm ocean waters my eyes not only turn red but they start itching like crazy. Typically I can survive the first session by keeping my eyes shut whenever I'm under water. But I often need to cut the 2nd session short because it becomes unbearable. I'd reall...

Brazil Nov/Dec: spots for foiling and riding twintip

I'm thinking about a trip to Brazil during late November/early December and would like to foil once a day and also ride a twintip when the wind is stronger (just after noon). Which of the following spots would you recommend? I don't mind low 20 knots when foiling as long as it's less gusty than Cris...

Which hydrofoils are the top racers riding?

It's not straight forward since some of the top racers don't ride the hydrofoils from their sponsor. Maybe somebody has a picture or link of the rider/registered equipment list for some of the recent international race events.

Re: 2018 IKA KiteFoil GoldCup World Series, Pingtan - Day 4

Does anybody have a link or a picture of the rider/equipment list for Pingtan and maybe also Weifang?
I tried googling "equipment site:kitefoilgoldcup.com" but didn't find anything useful.

Re: Possible Hydrofoil sale scam

Google reverse image lookup: does this mean searching the image name? No. You download the image on ikitesurf and upload that image to images.google.com . Just follow these instructions: https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/1325808?hl=en And then you can search for websites with matching ima...

Gongs makes a G10 foil that's not expensive: https://gongsupshop.com/epages/box1707.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/box1707/Products/GON7FOILHELLG10 Another link with the outline of the foil, definitely not a low aspect beginner foil: https://gongsupshop.com/epages/box1707.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/bo...

Are North lines spliced or sleeved and sewn?
On a 5th line bar, the gray center/middle line above the bar and below the "Y" is spliced and stitched w/o sleeving.

Re: Kite Tech Tips: Brummel Splice

I followed the instructions in this video: Splicing kite lines with a Brummel Splice from Andrew Cooksey https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zn70o6Yk2xI BTW, in my case the stitching on not one but two factory made splices on those North "strong" center lines failed. So IMHO a double locking brummel spl...
