Re: Concept Air Smart Wave 6.5 & 4.5 & 3 and now 8.5

nice article but the setup top-hat has works so much better for sideshore conditions like in the video. Try to do that in onshore and better yet, a bit gusty onshore winds... That's a game changer as they say :) This is exactly why the kite was designed so as to stay hooked and regulate the power b...

Re: Concept Air Smart Wave 6.5 & 4.5 & 3 and now 8.5

Hi Tony, The wave should work also with a more slash /turn style but then a wave LEI would also do the trick (escape including) but you will need to ride it powered. When we start discussing with Benoît, I was in West Oz and at that time I very much shared (and still) the view of Kevin (Top hat): "I...

Re: Concept Air Smart Wave 6.5 & 4.5 & 3 and now 8.5

Jannik, What's your range on the 4,5 on your surfboard and what's your weight? Hi Tom, my range on a sweet potato 5'2 (63kg, board is 32 liters) is around 22-23 knots (maybe slightly less) to ... I don't know, around 35-40 I think. I never switched to the 3m, although I usually live in a very windy...

Re: Concept Air Smart Wave 6.5 & 4.5 & 3 and now 8.5

Maybe a limited production run. I'd like to see the flight characteristics relative to polyester. I think foil kites would be uniquely suited to it. You have a "recent" thread here on kiteforum http://www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=2393279 which doesn't sound very optimistic on the sewing part. ...

Hi Iridian, I do not build these kites. Benoît Tremblay builds them. As far as I know, kite material comes from Porcher. Kites are all build in Canada in his workshop (Québec 100%).

Re: Foil kite longevity

What do you mean? Launching a foil kite is very simple and not damaging for the kite at a 45° angle. You lift one tip and you get the kite up, and that's it. There should be no "wearing" issue related to launching with a foil kite, with experience it's damned simple and safe (given the standard saf...

Could you try making one of these in Dyneema instead of the normal fabric?

Re: Concept Air Smart Wave 6.5 & 4.5 & 3 and now 8.5

Exactly with the trailing edge velcro closed. you can close it half-way (+fold the sock as in the picture) with the technique I presented above if you want the sock to deploy easily. Good ride! (I am stuck on land right now due to a lot of work and too many hours from the waves + no car ... hopefull...

Re: Concept Air Smart Wave 6.5 & 4.5 & 3 and now 8.5

Can you guys explain the deflate vent to a novice? I open the velcro on the trailing edge and pull out the vent. The vent also has velcro strips on the end, what is their purpose? Do I need to do anything with that velcro? To be sure that we are talking about the same thing, here is a picture: http...
