Re: First flatwater experience!

The slicks of Buxton OBX were my first ever real mirror flat water experience, and its a revelation. Simple things like maxing your G's into the corners while sending up a wall of water, tip slides, simple S turns. All so nice.. Downwinders in OBX can be incredible. Added to the slick component is t...

Re: Why is everyone hating on old kites ?

I'll add that since the dawn of kiteboarding, 9m was always the most developed size. Windy R&D spots meant 9m got the lions share of prototyping and there was a lot of just scaling up and down. Now bigger kites are built lighter with significant testing and design differences. Any old kite above 13m...

Re: Why is everyone hating on old kites ?

There was still a fair bit of development going on around 2008. Enough that you can't reliably just buy any old kite. By 2012 your odds are much better. The bridle revolution was in those 06-08 years, and they didn't have it down across the board until closer to 2012. Those early years have some dec...

That is awesome. I wonder how hard it is to get up and going?

Re: Hallelujah

Congrats. That is super light wind...... I find that way harder. EDIT: I can't really ride at all under 8 knots, and that is plenty iffy. All my transitions started as surface moves. Just keep doing them and organically you will fly through more and more. Watching video is helpful, for both the gros...

Re: Ruben Lenten How To Videos

I quite like this series. He shows the kite, the head mount gives an insightful perspective on the speed and he keeps it simple. One simple additional tip that applies to a lot of moves. It's also a real world conditions day: choppy with medium kite power. You get to see that on an average day, it's...

Yeah, works fine, I ride it on a single front line flagging bar.

Re: Three strut Hybrid C kites for foiling?

Anything works, its just a matter of how well. It also really matters how you want to ride and what you are used to. I ride an alloy foil, am happy with it, and Im sure getting used to many of the nice carbon ones on the market would ruin my enjoyment of the one I have. I've foiled with 5 strut, 3 s...

It’s not what you ride, it’s how you ride it.

Re: OR razor 2011 4m

I use that kite in 6m for foiling. Took off the two centre struts. Works great until you really over power it. Has loads of power but shuts off well in small sizes. Had the 10m for years and years before foiling. Know the kite really well. Would call it decidedly medium aspect. Loads of grunt. Suits...
