Re: Maybe I'll get to keep my name after all..

I've been kitesurfing since 2002. And windsurfed for 15 years before that. I never understood whether NKB and North Sails were related or not. At some point I thought NS had tanked and NKB was what was left, but then seeing NS products on boats, I knew that was not correct.. It was bloddy confusing...

Re: Why do you need especially fast turning kite

I’ve never owned one, 16 was my biggest back maybe 2006 ish. Then down to 13, then 12 then was a 10m purist for a good 6 years. Have had a 12 the last few years but it gets about half the use my 8m sees. Mostly just pulling your string. Not really that emotionally invested in what others choose. You...

Re: Does it matter to have a heavy board for foiling

Agreed, it always makes a difference, but for some forms of foiling weight its a lot less detrimental to the fun than others forms of kiteboarding. Strapless, jumpless is still pretty fun without a carbon set up. I learned on a fairly heavy converted surfboard I had kicking around and it had both go...

Re: Why do you need especially fast turning kite

Oh for sure, your a super pro! Let me put it this way. If next years kite is significantly slower, would it not be worse? Point is, speed is integral to kite performance, be it the kite or your super powers. Someone posts they like their 17m and you have an orgasm and dive into telling us how fast y...

Re: Why do you need especially fast turning kite

I have to agree here I went to a demo and took out a XR5 17 with a quad fins Nugget TT surfboard....wind side side-on 10-12kn....waves clean 3-4ft Killed it in the turns whipping that kite around like it was a much smaller size When i got back in to return the kite an experienced rider came to me a...

Re: Why do you need especially fast turning kite

How could I forget.

It's a pretty big slow loop so you have more than a "fraction of a second" for your darkslide.

Re: Why do you need especially fast turning kite

OMG, Stick to the pollitical and social bullshit your prone to. How appropriate to the average kiteboarder is Toby's advice even? His style of kiteboarding, not simply big air, but his personal style, with 18m kite on 32m lines is exceptionally rare. He is full on into it, there are a few followers ...

Re: Why do you need especially fast turning kite

Slow kites slow all aspects of the riding. You have to plan ahead for everything and it just draws everything out too long. You can work fast kites more effectively in their low end and recover them better, but mostly, quickness frees up the riding for faster decision making and direction changes. T...

Re: Scoring of tricks in GKA air games?

Kiting would benefit from a slope style format instead of a competition box format. Eliminating the upwind component in competition makes sense, for the riders, the spectators and the judges. Would also move us away from only including a few high scoring tricks, to a more well rounded form of riding...
