Re: North Hybrid foil board

Dont buy North foils. There are better options. North are SLOW and UNSTABLE worst possible combination. Why do you say they are slow and unstable? Compared to what? I’m not an expert at all, but I’ve being foiling for two years now. My normal ride is a LF Happy Foil, and I recently bought an Impuls...

Re: Straps or strapless poll

Hello Peter. Thanks for the advice. Actually I can waterstart without straps in ‘normal conditions’, and I take them out now and then. But in marginal wind, when the kite is waiting to fall out of the sky at the first chance, I rather have both hands free to move the kite overhead, change the AOA or...

Re: Straps or strapless poll

I don’t know how to answer. My fuselage is very heavy, so I need the straps to water start. So I have 2 straps in my board. The back one is in the further back position, and the front ones is set perpendicular to the cord of the board, as further front as possible. This setup gives me a lot of empty...

North Speedster GT anyone?

Hello. Has anybody used the North Speester GT? Would like to share your opinion? I rode the normal Speedster a couple of times and liked it. It was easier to fly than my LF Happy Foil, and I learned to ride sited in just one session. Now I was a about to pull the trigger on one, but saw that North h...

Re: Who here is Kite Foiling?

Sure. Lots of foilers here. My evolution was similar to yours. Started kiting in 2001 with directionals. Used 2 line kites and wrist leashes. Had a couple of Waroos. Now I mostly surf or foil. For foiling I use the same board that you have. It’s a LF Happy Foil with the standard mast (100 cm?) and t...

Re: fastest free ride hydrofoil?

I hadn’t used a lot of foils, but based on my experience (1 ½ years) and the foils I know, here are my 2 cts: If you like LF, the Happy Foil is way faster than the Rocket Fish, and Cabinha Double Agent, and a little faster than Lift, and the North Speedster. But it’s also more difficult to fly, beca...

Re: Any paragliding pilots around here?

PG strikes me as requiring less athletic ability & skill than kiteboarding? Is that true? You don’t need any athletic ability to fly a ppg. You just sit there and enjoy de view. But you need to be in decent shape to takeoff and land on some situations. To takeoff on nil wind days, you have to run u...

Re: Any paragliding pilots around here?

Yes, PPGs are noisy. But we use earplugs and you forget about the noise as soon as you are in the air. It’s just a part of the flight. Planes are noisy too. It’s difficult to explain. But when I fly without the motor I enjoy the silence. One of the pleasures of flying is that the only noise that you...

Re: Any paragliding pilots around here?

I have quite a bit of experience in both, kiting and PPG. I started paragliding circa 1990, but then left it because most flying places were too far away from home. Then in 2001 I started kiting and in 2008 picked up powered paragliding. Nowadays I spend most of my kiting time foiling or surfing, wi...

Re: Uruguay

Forget about the lagoons. They are way to shallow for foiling.
But you have a huge ocean out there where you can foil.
