Re: Mako 150x40 vs. Mako 140x40

I'm 165 lbs and I have a Mako 140. Haven't tried the 150. If he's looking to for a board for 12 knots I would go with the 150. I ride a spleene rip max for light stuff and switch over to the mako 140 around 15 knots. With my 15m 2008 Waroo, I can barely stay upwind in 12 knots on the Mako 140. It's ...

Re: Winter Board Storage

The real temperature issues with fiberglass are from being left in the sun. Most people don't realize how hot a dark colored surface can get just sitting out unprotected on a summer day. I've never heard of a problem with kiteboards in the sun specifically, but a black surface can easily reach over ...

Re: Whats the best safety release system avalible?

I bet you didn't test the LF '10! Is the LF '10 bar available yet? The website looks like it's still the 09 bar. The release is on one side and I think it's a pull towards you release. I'm looking for a bar with OS handles on both rear lines, above the bar depower, and a working push-away realease....

Re: Whats the best safety release system avalible?

I'm surprised that the Best bar was so close to the others. It works fine if you leave the release open between uses, but one time I had left it closed and didn't do a good job rinsing with freshwater, and the thing seized up on me! I was trying to open it with one hand on the chicken loop and the o...

Re: Help!!

The atom is an SLE kite, so the bar has a very long depower length.

The fuel and the pilot are c kites, so they need a shorter depower. I've heard some say that you can use an SLE bar with a c kite as long as you pull the stopper in far enough, but I haven't tried this myself.

Re: Flysurfer Speed3 - The Ultimate Flying Machine

I weight about 165 lbs and ride a OR Mako 140 wide and a Spleene RipMax 139x47. Would it be worth getting a 19 at my weight, or would I be blown off the water in 12 knots? Would the 15m the biggest I'd ever want to go? I currently ride a '08 waroo 15m for light wind. I'm most likely be getting a use...

Re: Twin Tip Hydrofoil

I think the foil has to be pretty far under the water so that it doesn't suck in air from the surface. That's called ventilating.

Re: Naish Cult or Best Waroo ??

It depends on personal preference. I've ridden '07 and '08 waroos for the last two years and I've never had a single problem with any of mine. I love the '08s. I've never ridden the cult, but i've talked to people who like them too. The quick release on the '09 best bar could use some work, but that...

Re: any takes on a new board

I haven't tried many boards, but I just upgraded from an '05 Airush switch 135 and an '07 LF proof 151 to a Mako 140 and I couldn't be happier. I ride mostly in choppy conditions and weigh about 165 lbs. Seems to be a great one board quiver for my size. i might pick up a bigger board light wind thou...

Re: score one for the helmet and impact vest

I had a similar situation. For me, I had just launched a 7m in about 28 knots. I bent down to pick up my board and somehow came unhooked (still not sure how it happened, I usually don't put the "chicken bone" in until I get out on the water, still not sure about that). I had only one hand on the bar...
