Re: FireWire fst w extra 6oz on deck withstand kiting?

I hate to dissagree but FST is way stronger than timbertek. From weekest to strongest i would rate their construction in this order. LFT,rapidfire, timbertek, fst, kite construction. You could be right about the FST being stronger than the Timbertek, but I got a Firewire Timbertek with the thought it ...

Re: FireWire fst w extra 6oz on deck withstand kiting?

I can't answer the question on the extra layer of glass, but just throwing out another idea if your buying new. Have a look at the firewire timber tek boards, they are light and very solid. I have the sweet potato in the kite construction and it is pretty light (lighter than its kite peers for sure)...

Re: Hydroflex - construction recommendation

Ha...ok, I'm sure the ill is the bomb for windy and big wave days! I agree that the Dump truck seems to a great to be paired with the iLL. I'm getting pretty excited about how it's going to ride, my favourite board I've used to date is my buddies custom PU board, but that would never last the punish...

Re: Hydroflex - construction recommendation

I contacted Roberts to get a little more perspective on the differences between the ill and the Black Punt, and this what they had to say: "The iLL is a normal shortboard designed for good surf or good surfers. It has a slightly wider nose and wider tail than similar shortboards to be more versatile...

Re: Hydroflex - construction recommendation

Thanks for the input, sounds like the valve will be ok.

The ill I think is more performance than the Black Punt, which is why I looking at the Black Punt. I'd go ill if I didn't already have the Magnum. Not a lot of reviews on this shape though.

Re: Hydroflex - construction recommendation

Have the Roberts Ill in super charger dura X. They are suuuuuuuper light and lively. Only a few sessions on it but bought it used and it is still mint. The valve is set and forget. Not sure which construction is best for kiting. I think the supercharger pump thing is probably a bit of a fad. I don'...

Hydroflex - construction recommendation

Anyone have any experience with Hydroflex? Thinking about trying a Roberts ill or black punt. But I'm uncertain about the various construction options. Would the supercharger or natural be the way to go for kiting? (only considering the dura-x strength). Is one lighter, do they ride the same, would ...

Sufboard size -- how small can I go?

Looking to switch up my Magnum 6 0, I think its about 24 L or so. Anyways looking at my options and wondering how much smaller I can go. Although I Iove the Magnum I find that it's just a bit too long for kiting, but I do love the feel of this board and the fact I can sink the thin tail easily to co...

Re: Board for choppy conditions

I confirm the monk is very good board for nasty chop. I have the original gorilla and I can rip it very lumpy stuff. I have a bad knee too and this board is very easy on the joint, better than my surfboards or any other TT Ive had. I hear a lot of good things about the mako, but I've never had a cha...

Re: Kiting Palm Beach/Florida

RickI is a good source on FL. I also agree with dyylan. I just got back from a week in Delray, got 5 out of 7 days in, 2 days on my 10M and and 3 on my 12M. Boards were 145x44 laluz and 6.0 magnum. If I had to bring one kite it would be a 12M too, but my 10M was perfect on the winder days, and the t...
