Re: 443 Euros / 550 USD / 349 GBP for a bar? Have they gone

I heard through the grape vine that the Kite companies buy them from the manufacturer for arounnd 70 USD complete with all the lines etc.

I just wonder where the money goes - to the Kite comapny or to the dealer!

Re: Quality Ripstop Tape needed

This is what I did on a flogged trailing edge - some ideas.

http://www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Kite ... e-repairs/

The weight of the dacron is 136gsm which does not add that much weight to the kite - considering I added about a square meter to the TE it maybe 150grams heavier.

Re: Anyone any ideas how soak off old gaffer tape from a Kit

Isopropyl alcohol, Currently repairing a trailing edge, it not that strong so you may have to scrape the glue off when it goes soft. I am using Dacron sticky back cloth cut 180mm wide down the full length of the trailing edge (tip to tip) and use ISO alc to clean before sticking the Dacron down. Oth...

Re: The Underdog (new brands) Kite Thread

I have a Fluid Ego, which every time I fly it I love it more.
I use it with a surfboard.

I rate the kite and would really like to try the other kites in the Fluid range.

Most people that see it fly ask about it or at least ask the name.

Re: Do high tech fabrics really make a better kite or hype?

I think the known brands are better because if you tkae two kites, one made with a know brand and the other a copycat of ripstop and weigh them, I bet the copycat brand will weigh more due to thicker material to get the durability out of it. I've had a 13m well known brand kite weigh lighter than a ...

Re: The Underdog (NEW BRANDS) Kite Thread

Hey Tighty,

After you flew pass me on your 12, I've got to try it out sometime, are you going to Kitestock?

Also keen to try your C kite out, but only if it has a 5th and a fair bit of depower.

Re: The Underdog (NEW BRANDS) Kite Thread

I rate the Fluid Ego 9m, haven't tried the other sizes or other models. The 9m out performed my other 12m kite (designed by a Contract designer mentioned above) in the light winds.

I use mine for unstrapped wave riding.

Here's another.

Re: Best C kite for wave riding?

Hey Guys, I fly a 7m OS kite from NEW kiteboarding, 5 line (can fly on 4) C shape, no bridle direct connect and I really love it. Can't comment about the bigger sizes for wave riding but it has more than enough depower for me and really quick turning and drifts really well. Check out: http://newkite...

Re: Good Upwind and Good Drift???

I had the 2nd gen Nano, I thinkiller I out grew it and found that it does not drift that well as the minute the lines go slack it falls out the sky. Now I have gone for kites that are more medium aspect with squarish wide wingtips, the more balanced the kite the better it drfts especially if the lin...

Re: Glue to Repair LE ??

Deffinately, they either use adhesive Dacron tape or a double sided tape that is very thin, allows them to align the panel up and gives a stronger repair. All good kite seems are done the same way during manufacturing, he may have had a bit of overlap or the sun has softened the adhesive and caused ...
