Re: Ocean Rodeo 2012

The 2011 Razor is a stable kite. I've also had it out (8m) in next to nothing and it stayed in the air no probs. Is the Cypher really better? I like the sound of the Cypher being 'slightly less aggressive' and 'the best kite OR have produced to date by far.' Which is better for steering and stabili...

Re: Ocean Rodeo 2012

Yeah the theory seems to make sense doesn't it. thanks for the advise, I've got my 7 and 10m Razor on order, this years 10m already had me powered up from 18knots and rideable in 14-15knot lulls. I own a 13m 2010 Rise too, I'm thinking about replacing that with the 15m Flite later on. We are lucky ...

Re: Ocean Rodeo 2012

Hi Ghostdog, great review! I'm building a bit a theory here: heavier riders need more aggressive/explosive kites, I have been loving that of my 2011 Razor and from what I heard the 2012 seems to have this packaged even better. I'm 1.90m and 98 kg, quite a bit of inertia to pull on. So here's my sli...

Re: Ocean Rodeo 2012

My take on Cypher. It arrived today and fortunately the wind was blowing. Had a nice 1 hour session in perfect conditions. My thoughts are mostly in the context of how the kite compares to Ocean Rodeo's other two kites from 2011, of which I have ridden both extensively. I really enjoyed the kite, I ...

Re: Ocean Rodeo 2012

After putting a little more time on the Cypher here's my take on comparisons vs the Rise and Razor: Cypher: Higher bar pressure, and sits deepest in the window. Very stable, with a much more constant powerband. Not sensitive to bar/trim inputs like the other kites. It also flies much slower through...

Re: Ocean Rodeo 2012

a bit more on the cypher. I finally got some winds suitable for kiteloops. Loops are softer and more gentile than the Razor. Loops are better than the rise, which didn't loop well. If you like a big yank in your loop this won't be as strong, but much more relaxed So kind of between Razor and Rise i...

Re: Ocean Rodeo Session Harness 2.0

Just ordered my 3rd Session harness, the last one lasted me 200 sessions or so, and only problem with it is the straps wore through where they feed through the spreader bar. I could probably fix it with a professional sowing job at a sailmaker or something like that but I went ahead and ordered a ne...

Re: Ocean Rodeo 2012

Cypher also comes in size 10! 5,7,9,10,12. I assume if you are more surf oriented 7,9,12 freestyle 7,10,12 2 kite quivers surf 7,10 freestyle 9,12 Looks like OR though this one through pretty well. 5m for the little rippers The web site was wrong, they had dropped the 10, I emailed them and the 10 ...

Re: Ocean Rodeo 2012

I don't know about the Cypher, but I have 6/8/10/12 razors and the 12 is a big kite - I only use it as you say in really light wind, like 13-18, just a few little whitecaps. If there's any real wind it's too much and the 10m works up to about 24. Overall the razors have a fairly small sweet spot in...

Re: Ocean Rodeo 2012

QUESTION: For folks who have ridden both the Rise/Razor and the new CYPHER. Cypher comes in a 9 and 12. I have an 8/10 Razor and I ride the 10 mostly, in 16 to 20 MPH conditions. I'm unsure if I should get the 9 or 12 cypher. I'm not looking to fill a gap in wind range with the Cypher, I'm going to ...
