Re: Safe student launch?

. Although there is always good information in these “instructors should....” threads, it would behoove posters to remember that readers’ knowledge may vary from very experienced to knowing NOTHING. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if these types of threads attract a greater proportion of novices th...

. I haven't been following this thread so it's possible that the info in the below article (which I haven't read) has already been covered. http://www.livescience.com/43303-cool-camera-carrying-drones.html " Photos from Above: 8 Cool Camera-Carrying Drones" By Denise Chow, Staff Writer | February 14...

Re: New kites and liability insurance.

The same fact ,so hard to learn: If they carry insurance, it protects them, not you. You could only ever access their policy after winning a court fight, or some arbitration involving lawyers etc., which could take several years and $100k's, or more. If a company fears potential goodwill loss, or p...

Re: New kites and liability insurance.

. I haven't read every post so perhaps someone has already mentioned the below observation. I saw that several posters alleged that Caution does not have liability insurance. However, it is unlikely that anyone could know this without going through the discovery process of a lawsuit or at least rece...

Re: Maui Kitebeach to be banned !

. Edit: So it prohibits vessels and sailboards, I guess kites are OK then? :D You may be right.... It is 'silent' on kite boards...probably because they didn't really exist in 1994...although the intention is pretty clear. That said, kite boards are not considered craft because they don't support yo...

Re: Maui Kitebeach to be banned !

If the buoys are not excessively far out, perhaps drift launching and self-rescuing outside the swim zones will be feasible. I imagine that they wouldn't consider kite equipment to be vessels or crafts when not being able to function as such. Richard M. Malibu Kitesurfing - since 2002 (310) - 430 -...

Re: Maui Kitebeach to be banned !

An update from the Ocean Safety Alliance update - urgent action needed Mr Ed Underwood from DLNR-DOBOR just confirmed that they are moving forward and preparing to install three sets of buoys at Kanaha Beach. These buoys will designate the expanded zones that will exclude all vessels and watercraft...
