I don't know what the current ice situation is but two weeks ago the south side of the causeway at Sandbar was frozen.

If you're taliking about introducing newbies then I would assume FB trainers are the place to start. Cheap, relatively low risk and easy. Bear in mind that small kite does not always equate to high wind kite. A true high wind kite will be built much tougher than your el cheapo trainer or recreational kite for static flying.
