Re: Flying an IDS kite (two line safety) using one line safety bar

Cabrinha like most kite companies never "cross dress" by this I mean they never test kites and control bars that weren't designed together. So it won't show up in the spreadsheet as "working". It wasn't designed to work and they never tested it so yeah it's up to the customer to go out of spec and f...

Re: Flying an IDS kite (two line safety) using one line safety bar

Should be fine. Try it in light wind conditions first, but I suggest doing that for all control bars, just to see what happens.

Re: Italian Kitesurfer dies in Brazil

It's hard to punch out while you get lofted. So if the wind is 70 knots that means in 1 second you are almost 40 meters in the air. It's nearly impossible to go from just riding around not suspecting anything, feel the power of the kite lift you and be able to punch out in milliseconds. You must pun...

Interesting theory, edt. I'm inclined to believe you. So what side do you tape the kite? Inside or out?
doesn't matter.

Re: Small tear in kite

You should never use both sides, only use one side for sail tape for a canopy repair. It is more than strong enough to match the strength of the canopy and the extra tape makes the canopy too stiff in that one section so when it flaps, it will wear just outside the repair area. For holes less than a...

Re: What qualities in kite translate to pull when turning/working the kite?

Is it just that the more c-kite it is, the more pull it generates? Does the wingtip shapes play a part here? Yes. The single most important factor in having a kite that generates pull in a turn is those wingtips, how C-shaped they are. I think if you don't have a C-shaped wingtip then the air spill...

Re: Kite foiling and sargassum?

You can't foil where there's seaweed. Even if the foil manages to cut the seaweed, it will still stick to the wing, so 1 second after hitting it your entire foil is covered in it and you end up turning your foil upside down while keeping your kite in the air, pulling it off the wing, then you body d...

Re: Help with my foil starts

some places suck for foiling. find a new spot. Even when you are experienced it is no damn fun foiling in a place where you hit bottom. If you are lucky and hit bottom, you hope nothing breaks and you merely go cartwheeling head over heels. If you absolutely can not find a new spot body drag as far ...

Re: how long is too long?!

I think the best answer is just go try it. People are always asking in this forum about what's the "right" line length. Wouldn't it suck if you took the advice of some random here on the forum who told you "such and such length is the longest never go above it" and only figured out years later that ...
