Re: Best way to add bolt threads in the board for the mast when building board?

I’ve used these with success. http://www.easycomposites.co.uk/#!/tools-equipment-and-supplies/bighead-bonding-fasteners/BigHead-Female-Threaded-Collar-Blind.html Inserted from top of board. They can even be used as a retrofit. The fact that they stand slightly proud doesn’t matter if you cover with ...

Re: 3D Printed Wings - please post your experiences here

Which printer do you have? I've been toying with the idea of printed wings, so following with great interest! I have an Anet A8, a very cheap one that I would not really recommend these days (fire hazard!). Now there are better options in the same price range. Like this: https://www.banggood.com/Cr...

^ Ha Ha :-)
Great to hear it worked..... eventually!

I assume the sections were printed vertically?
Joined with dowels or just glued butt joints?

Any idea what the weight came out to be?

Re: 3D Printed Wings - please post your experiences here

CNC machining seems to me the way to go, rather than 3D printing. Start with some material, and cut away what you don't need to make either a mold or directly create your wing. To machine it directly, get some G10 fiberglass. I use my CNC machine to cut molds, then make them from carbon. Most 3D pr...

Re: SWAP Gong Allvator & Moses Fluente

These are Gong Wings. The whole gong foil including a 65cm mast is 399€ Based on an idea posted in another topic I have attached the G10 wing of gong to my moses fuselage. Works fine, nice wing. Interesting idea. What were the dimensions of the original slot in the gong fuse? Also do you know what ...

3D Printed Wings - please post your experiences here

Hi All, I thought I'd start a new thread with a more relevant title to carry on from http://kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=199&t=2400231 where direnc has provided some interesting info on printing hydrofoil wings (and actually used a stab direct off a printer!) There must be a few folk who've actuall...

Re: DIY Thick surf foil wings

I printed the back wings with 0.32mm layer height (highest possible with 0.4mm noozle). I used 4 outer shells and 80% infill. For the front wing I used Simplify3D and used its variable settings feature where you can set different infills and skin thicknesses for different Z heights. Do not have the...

Re: DIY Thick surf foil wings

Thanks for that info
👍

Looking forward to hear how it goes.

Would also be interested hear some of the significant slicing details you used. Eg skin thickness, % infill etc

Re: DIY Thick surf foil wings

great job. did you already design a rear wing? if yes, can you also upload the file to thingiverse? thanks So it was sized to fit in the build volume of the printer. It was printed vertically in PETG material. Vertical printing orientation makes it weak, but I tried it on the water... Is PETG the b...

Re: IKEA Wings

Class! Can we have a peak at your board as well? Looks like that might be equally interesting? The board, from top to bottom has this composition: 200g glass 4mm plysood 18mm XPS insulation foam with 18mm paulownia plank in the middle area 4mm plywood bottom rail 400g glass It's about 145 x 50 cm, ...
