Re: Riding a Surfboard. Riding a TT

Started on a TT and bought a Naish global sb 1.5 years later. I like the sb just fine especially after I ditched the straps but my kite of choice is the ozone edge for airstyle and it pulls too hard on a sb unless it's really light wind. So for the past 2 years I've preferred the TT in most conditio...

Board flip direction

Try and try again, I'm struggling to flip the board from the handle and catch it. I've been flipping it towards myself and I'm finding that it's extremely difficult to catch it by the handle again either because the board is rotating too quickly or if I try to slow it down, the wind catches. After a...

Re: First gear

Welcome to kitesurfing lifestyle. 1) Yes, a switchblade would be a good starting point but a kite will only last as long as how it is treated. They are a well built kite as you would expect. Are you buying new or second hand? From new, you will likely get 200-350 sessions before it dies. Used? who k...

Re: Tutorial - How To build a custom Airstyle T-Handle

The reason for the CF is because I have the material and minimal tools are needed. I'm in Vietnam or else I'd just order one from mac. Translating what I want to a local metal worker seems like a big headache. Couldn't find tennis tape or similar so I'm going to use a bike tube wrapped around tightl...

Re: Tutorial - How To build a custom Airstyle T-Handle

Hey Mac,
I thought I remembered reading about a custom made carbon fiber t handle you built. Was that you? Wondering how it holds up. Anyway, I bought some CF tape today and plan on building one.
No core, just a thick layup on a foam block.

Re: Where in the world for big dowinders

I did a 30 km downwinder this year in Mui Ne, Vietnam. Windy almost always! Its also possible to do much longer runs of over 200 km. My knees dont like it though. Perhaps on a hydrofoil.

Re: Straps that will fit a shinn monk?

Thanks for the suggestions folks,
I'm gonna look into these.
Also mentioned in a PM was these:
SP Raptors and Air footbeds from spboarding.com

Just curious about the fit to the board.

Cheers

Straps that will fit a shinn monk?

I've loved my monks for the past several years but I'm eating through the original straps so quickly. I seem to remember that not all straps will mate with the monk. Is that correct? I ride old school and need straps that are can go large for board offs and such and not chew up bare feet. I'm willin...

Re: Board off Questions

I see this thread got resurrected. I'm happy to report that board offs are no longer a problem even on my 9m edge but ya, I've got a 11 and 15 as well and its even easier. Working on getting it done with a front roll. I've only landed a few. I'm thinking that my len10 waist harness is not helping me...
