Re: Ocean Rodeo Prodigy - All New 3 Strut Freeride Kite

Looks like a great kite!

How's it fit in with the Rise in the product range?

Will the Flite be changing over to be based on the Prodigy instead of the Rise? The prodigy seems more suited to LW adaptation.

Re: Getting into kiteboarding with my wife

The easiest way to learn would be to invest in a real 4 line sheetable inflatable trainer kite. These are like mini versions of real water kites and fly exactly the same but are only 1.5-3.0 meters. They aren't cheap, about $450. At your weights you can't get one kite that will work for you and your...

Re: Sometimes I can't go upwind

Something that I found handy to do when fighting an inflowing tide is to work up wind in bursts. Gain some speed and then use it to cut up wind and slow down, then do it all over again. It's not the best technique but for a beginner like me it gets the job done. I also make sure you are powered enou...

Re: Windguru for San Francisco

I'm not in the bay area but the best wind site I've found so far is windalert.com. Finding a local sailing club sensor page is usually better though, but windalert.com has all over coverage and a comprehensive view.

Re: O'Neill Psycho 2 vs. Psycho RG8?

I have neither suit so I can't speak to my experience with them, but I'd have to ask why bother with the RG8 at all? The sole reason for it's existence is to be a suit that's made in an environmentally friendly way. So if that's what you want, go for it. If not, then get the top of the line psycho f...

Hot launching SLE kites in 10 knts

I'm still new to kiteboarding and the other night I was taking out my 2010 Naish Cult 12m in about 12 knts. Problem was the launch area is way in on the beach and the wind there is much more spotty and only like 7-8 knts. After 5 minutes of wrecking my kite on the beach trying to self launch by pull...

OR Mako 140 too heavy to travel?

Subject says it all, any mako 140 owners out there travel with it or does the weight make you take lighter board?

Underground Kipuna or OR Mako King

I learned to kiteboard back in 2003 but didn't pursue it because of life/cost/risk. So I'm starting to pick it up now and I'm wondering which board to go with. Everything I've read about either board has been positive. I'm looking for a versatile board that I can ride strapless in light winds or str...
