Just found this old Takoon video was still on my hard drive. Featuring Franz Olry & Luciano at Cabarete in 2002 (it was discussed in a couple of threads on Kiteform back then0. I just uploaded it on vimeo.

Re: Best bankrupt?

It is obvious that Best has made some really great kites, no question on this ! Their designer was known for being one of the best out in this industry... I spoke with one old Best retailer recently, he also told me that this designer was gone, as well as a very big part of the people working there...

Re: Calling cold water kiters! - Glove me.

I don't buy any gloves any more what are not precurved! I agree. I had, for many years, a pair of thin not pre-curved neoprene gloves. They were not that warm & caused forearm fatigue. I now have a pair of relatively thick gloves that are seriously pre-curved. They are very warm & create minimal fo...

Re: Looking for a 12 mt wave kite that turns fast, feels light and drifts. Exists?

My point is that characteristics without a comparison are useless. I already acknowledged & agreed with your point. However ... people are then stuck with having to try multiple wave kites to make a useful comparison - not likely to happen - read the kitesurf mag reviews/advertising material - of l...

Re: Looking for a 12 mt wave kite that turns fast, feels light and drifts. Exists?

As I've mentioned in a similar thread a while ago, most of these replies are worthless. One HAS to compare the speed of a kite to another kite. In this case, a wave kite preferably against another wave kite. Only after that could there be a consensus on which kites are faster than others. Just beca...

Re: Converting surf board

Thanks for the responses. My conclusion is not to mess around with my existing board, but possibly have a custom board made incorporating foil inserts. This would almost certainly be stronger/lighter than retrofitting.

Re: Converting surf board

Now I get it, tiny surfboard in "golf bag" type of bag must be what you are doing. Sounds like your board is a candidate for a mopman style conversion. I would love to see pictures of the board or brand/model etc. By the way in case anybody doens't know this, international flight board bags are usu...

Re: Converting surf board

Thanks for the replies. With regard to the travel bag: as I explained, I actually get a kite bag free, up to 20 kg. I have in the past been able to get my SB & TT, 2 kites & harness in it without being overweight. However, removing the TT (which I don't use) & adding a foil board PLUS the foil itsel...

Re: Converting surf board

My airline is excellent: they actually take kiteboarding gear at no charge ... however, there's no way I can take my SB, a foil board, the foil, kites, harness, bars etc. & not be overweight (20 kg). Even if I put the kites in another bag, I think two boards & the foil will be overweight. It's not a...
