Re: Is Wakestyle dead?

... and I'm pretty sceptical that what Airton is doing is easier than what the wake style boys are doing.

Re: Is Wakestyle dead?

No question that wakestyle with handle-passes is difficult. But difficulty has nothing to do with fun. People kiteboard because it is a great feeling - to be out on the water, planing, boosting, carving, foiling. Wakestyle is, for the most part, for people who are able to spend A LOT of time on the ...

Re: 2 kites quiver: 8m and 12m?

Yeah. Buy something less expensive than Core & get three kites: 12m, 9m, 7m. Simples.

Re: Advice for a beginner

Also... "last a long time" doesn't necessarily mean anything. If you're at the learning stage now, what kind of kite you start out on may be different from what you will choose in a couple of years. Additionally, strongly built kites are heavier & there's no guarantee they will outlast a less bomber...

Re: Lake Garda

I'm considering the possibility of buying a place near Lake Garda. Beautiful scenery, hiking, biking, skiing & amazing Italian towns to visit, as well as proximity to Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, France etc. How good is the kiting on Lake Garda? I would still make trips to wave spots in the winte...

Re: biggest regret purchase

12m Wipika Amp ca. 2004. I bought it to "upgrade" my 2001 Airblast. The Amp was grunty, heavy & didn't depower well. I had my most serious kitemare incident with that kite. Eventually I threw it out & went back to using the Airblasts for a couple more years until Best Waroos came along. A few years ...

Re: Boosting only one way

Kiting 18 years. Can only really boost one direction. The origin of that: when I started kiting, on 2 line kites, it was so *#*@! hard I didn't waste energy trying to jump the side I was less comfortable with. My "good" side was my stronger side from windsurfing & came from the locations I windsurfe...

Re: Help me complete my quiver: 80 kg rider

Here's the thing: a 12m should get you up & planning on your board in 12 - 13 knots & fully powered in 14 - 15 knots. A 15m will get you planning in 11 - 12 knots & a 17m in 10 - 11 knots. The 12m will remain useable up to about 20 knots, but the bigger kites will start to feel uncomfortable much ea...

Re: Any paragliding pilots around here?

I started pg in 2007 - flew a lot until 2012...when I switched entirely to kiting. I haven't pg'd since. As many have stated, pg risks can be mitigated and most accidents are indeed pilot error...I simply decided for me kiting was more fun and although yes, kiting too has risks, they don't rise to ...

Re: Help me complete my quiver: 80 kg rider

I agree with tautologies: I weigh a little bit more than you & haven't used anything bigger than a 12m kite for years (although I only use a surfboard). Honestly, big kites suck. They are slow & heavy. A 12m kite like a Switchblade should get you planing in anything above 12 knots, with decent techn...
