Re: Fly surfer soul wind range

I also have an 8m Soul and have only gotten to use it once at the lower limit of it's range, which is surprisingly good (decent power and some jumping at 15 knots), I really want to find the upper limit as I want to get a new high wind LEI and can't decide whether it needs to be a 7m, 6m or 5m Naish...

Re: Casualty in Sicily

Not sure you can really make that comparison without looking at the statistics. There seem to be several deaths each year from kitesurfing, not sure what the stats are for skydiving, and what do you consider skydiving to be? Does it include the nutters who wingsuit 20m above trees or fly in-between ...

Re: Casualty in Sicily

Just to reiterate: launching unhooked is not the solution! I dread to think what carnage there would be if everyone tried this! Using a tragedy to disseminate dodgy advice is not good...

Re: Fly surfer soul wind range

Downloop transitioning works pretty well on the 12m although it does pull quite a bit, and I did cock this up fairly royally yesterday when I download transitioned near to the shore, misjudged how much it would pull, ran out of water and ended up dragging myself across the beach! I'd think you would...

Re: Flysurfer Soul

I fly mine using the Ozone bar on normal setting. Seems fine. Like most kites it flies best with the trim strap on full power, meaning tighter back lines, but I haven't tried shortening them beyond the usual setting - being a foil kite there is a risk it'll start back stalling if you fly it with bac...

Re: Self Landing Foilkites in 20+kts

In all fairness I doubt many would want to self land any kite in 30-40 knots.

Re: Self Landing Foilkites in 20+kts

I have definitely back stall landed my 12m Soul in around 15-20 knots, which is the upper limit for me kitesurfing with it. If you do it from the top of the window you need to commit to the middle bit where is pulls quite a bit, but not in a scary way (in my opinion!) and it does land fairly solidly...

Wonder which Woo K Langeree used because his jumps do look like 25m+ on the video.

Re: 30.4m Jump on Woo? Now 30.7m!!

Check out Kevin Langerees video of when he jumped 28.3m. There are several first person views of him jumping way over the top of other peoples' kites, plus video from the beach of him going an absolute mile. Thats not to say it's proof but it makes the claim extremely believable. [youtube]https://ww...
