Re: New Shinn Lineup

I really love my Ultrasonic. The upwind drive is hard to beat. What is your feeling on the upwind ability of the Ronson vrs the Ultrasonic? Is it better than the Monk but not as strong as the Ultra? They are both different and I think upwind is a lot about technique... you can make *most* boards re...

Re: New Shinn Lineup

So the Ronson... I’ve spent a good few hours on it from being maxxed to just powered on a 6m in some pretty heavy wind-blown waves to powered 12m session in some flat-choppy conditions. It appears to be the ‘replacement’ of the Ultrasonic in the Shinn line-up and if Mark was looking to bridge the ga...

Cheers.
Yes

Great session so too tired to write last night and watching a movie with my 4 year old tonight (she is telling me to put my phone down). Feedback tomorrow.

Re: New Shinn Lineup

I'm generally around 77kg and ride in as much as my 6m will let me - 5m weather here (not surfboard weather) on a twin tip gets a bit too cerebral and just scary. I've found the 41 wide Shinn boards to be perfect for my 12/9/6 setup (2017 Airush Unions) and lets me have from from the low teens - alt...

Re: New Shinn Lineup

I also own the first generation Bronq (136x42) and I confirm that sometimes it gets scaring, too fast and responsive, in the chop you're going on thinking "omg, I'm gonna crash!". But once you get used to the sensation and you understand you're not going to crash at all, you feel you're riding prob...

Re: New Shinn Lineup

IMO for this style of riding - blasting about primarily hooked in at super speed with lots of control the Monk is unparalleled. Another question for you if I may please? Am thinking of getting a Bronq in Easter when the V3 comes out. How does it compare with a Monk - like a Monk on steroids with mo...

Re: New Shinn Lineup

Interesting. But what do you mean by "not ballistic like the Monk"? I find the Monk has two speeds - stop and go, with go being fast. It's a board that likes to go fast and is very comfortable doing so - a real blast around super fun board. Ive had a lot of Monks over the years. Other boards like t...

Re: New Shinn Lineup

So I got to try the 135x41 Ronson at the weekend for a couple of hours and here is what I said about it to a friend: The conditions at the start were gnarly maxed on the 6m - wind cross-on from right so better for a goofy, with head high wind blown waves with some decent power behind them that caugh...

I'll let you know as I've had the Monk and Ultrasonic... and a Bronq and ADHD and rode pretty much most of the others.

Re: What Board for Big Air

Thankyou John-B, the voice of reason and clarity! :thumb: There is someone selling an ADHD on FB (is that you)? Reading the blurb on the ADHD it is a wakestyle specific board? Mine sold fast. I know it's billed as wakestyle and you can get huge carve pop out of it, but it is seriously smooth....
