Re: Marginal wind kites ?

At 30 degrees air density is 1.16kg/m3, at 50 degrees it is 1.09kg/m3, about 70g/m3 difference. 9m AR 5 kite has volume of about 1.2m3, so in that case this effect would be 84g. Hyperlink 9 in regular cloth is easily 2000 grams less than a similar sized wave or freestyle LEI. I wouldn’t spend a who...

Re: Marginal wind kites ?

Come on you can do better. Personally I am waiting for a Pullstrings reply and a kitexpert cad render. I like the solar balloon kite concept a lot. But I also like PChem better than most sane people. Kite Experts argument is good. To make a significant difference that air inside the kite would have...

Hot air balloon effect is real.

Re: flying a foil kite- tips needed

Classic foil kite flying requires some back stall on the bar to get a sharp turn or a brief boost. Maybe set so when flying kite static at zenith the ideal power is 10 cm from the chicken loop. Also it takes time to develop a feel for where that ideal point is when flying. Pull the bar to the chicke...

When measuring porosity, do you consider air loss through the seams?

Re: Advice from an older married kiter to a young one

My youngest just crossed the riding upwind threshold. Now I can ride with 3 groms. Yes its awesome. They ...
