Re: Are you thinking about becoming a foiler?

Disagree.
Build your own foil and board, it's cheaper, you can make it a lot less sharp and safer to use and learn on with very small financial outlay.
Learn by doing. Start by riding the board flat. No need for short masts.

One of the locals here is 81yo and just started foiling. He's been kiting for years

Re: Is a Flysurfer Soul 18m too much for hydrofoil in light wind?

In 6-8kts still learning to hf, I'm using an 18m diablo and it's marginally overpowered once up to speed for my ability but it's easily reined in.

Re: Doors instead of foil for summer days?

I have a large radical tt kiteboard for low wind in the flat shallow waters with my 18m diablo. 12kts is a lot of fun and able to jump around with a smile on your face.
Anything less then it's on the foil board. Today was 6-8kts and foiling was even more fun when the water was millpond

Re: Foil Kite folding in half when going upwind!?

A lines need lengthening or b and c shortening. An increase in camber can introduce a frontal collapse but lengthening the z lines will not change the aoa of the front of the aerofoil therefore will not alter it's collapsing. Imo

Re: 4 Degrees up on the wing?

I'm interested too. But I've been reading. Basically a flat bottom foil will generate less lift when at zero AoA to flow, a foil with shape on bottom will have some lift at zero AoA. So you might need a constant AoA built into the design to generate a certain lift and a specific speed. Foil designe...

Re: Flysurfer Flydoor 6

I love my large tt board for low wind days in the shallows. But I opted for a radical kiteboard at £300 new. It's bloody brilliant and well worth it at under half the price of this.

Re: first 360 hydrofoil from Marc blanc !

This video shows the trick with 1st gen Sonic 15m probably with 21m std lines from dual perspective. I wonder when multiple deadman's turns are done with HF in a row.. https://vimeo.com/124712637 Craig sparks is a very talented freestyle buggiers and had the right conditions and place to pull this ...

Re: first 360 hydrofoil from Marc blanc !

360? No.....it's called a dead man's turn! It's been done in buggy for years but on a hydrofoil it's something special. A lot more skills needed to do it while standing on an underwater plane.
