Early last spring, I was learning to change directions by hopping to toeside and carving through the turn. The water was very shallow, maybe 6 inches deep, the wind was onshore around 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. I hopped to toeside, steered the kite up, got hit by a gust, and went flying to land...

For me at 165 lbs, it's the 15m FS Speed2 with a fast board with no or little rocker. Haven't tried it in waves, but it definitely works great in flat water and moderate chop.[/b]

In fact, there are more statistics that show you are worse off wearing a helmet. It could be that people, who do not suffer head injuries, just happen to wear helmets for some completely unrelated reason, and that they would be just as fine without helmets. It could also be that people contract aid...

That gash looks so much better on my helmet than on my head!

I don't wear a helmet every time, but whenever conditions are the slightest bit intimidating, I use it. Worked well so far.

I've been there in June. Check out the Bermuda Kitesurfing Association at http://www.bka.bm/index.asp for info on locations and weather. Also, windguru has some info: http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=32728&wj=knots&odh=3&doh=22&go=1 . Simon runs the kite school at the 9 Beaches resort; see ht...

i wouldnt buy a wetsuit if you have a dry suit. Last winter, I had exactly two sessions where I was comfortable in my dry suit; for all the other sessions, I was warm but sweating like a pig. The dry suit is amazing when I have to scrape ice off my windshield; otherwise, it's a bit too warm for me....

Mystic versus O'Neill wetsuit

I'm interested in the O'Neill Psycho II 6/5/4 winter wetsuit or something similar in addition to my drysuit. Mystic has a couple of 6/5's. Which of these is the warmest? And: What are the pro's and con's of Mystic over O'Neill?

Gore-Tex suits?

What about drysuits like the Kokatat that actually are made of Gore-Tex?

We flew from the US to Bermuda with the deceiver bag, no problem. I've borrowed the bag for this trip, but I'm going to buy one next time I need it. It's great!

Also, several of my friends used that bag and never paid extra.

I use thick neoprene gloves (can't remember if it's 3 or 5 mm) from Bare, and I'm really happy with these. Two things I found useful: Buy the gloves one size bigger than usual to avoid fatigue while holding the bar. Make sure the gloves are wet inside when putting them on. Wet gloves are rather chil...
