Re: My first long swim

Hyperlink as a foil kite is pretty intuitive. Maybe fly it on the beach for 20 min especially in stupidly light wind. Consider practicing water relaunch deliberately. One pro tip for water launch is not to pull water into the kite by pulling the back lines if it's trailing edge down or the front lin...

Re: new bar grip

I've done Prince tennis grip and hockey stick mesh tape. The tennis grip is a really nice comfey chamois feel and has held up quite well except for the little sticker used to terminate the grip. The hockey stick mesh looks ghetto. Little strings peel off it. The feeling is much more harsh. But I hav...

Re: 3 line front line - strength?

Early lines were not that strong. But if I remember correctly the Psycho2 had a line upgrade after some front line failures. I believe the failures occurred when activating the roto-leash. And I believe they were associated with many other simultaneous bridle failures. When those reports came, I cha...

Re: My first long swim

Glad to hear all ended well TomW! I'm curious to know what kind of kite the rescuer had that was still in the air? Also, could the tube kite realistically be used as a sail to pull back to shore? My 9 Hyperlink pulls and relaunches in wind where my 9 Ultra will do neither. Yes I have found condition...

Re: Bar and lines through foil on wipe out!

The first time I knew it could happen I just didn't think of it as a probability. I still think getting smacked by the foil is a bigger risk. I was very new to foiling and trying to go downwind and flying the kite low. Now I'm just kind of new to foiling and I think the trick to preventing both is t...

Re: Bar and lines through foil on wipe out!

Its happened twice to me. Once in a crash. I ejected the kite while I was being pulled underwater with tangled with the foil. The foil cut the safety line so the whole kite and foil blew away. The kite dropped the foil 200 meters downwind. The kite was lost forever. It was a long stupid swim but I'm...

Re: Airush Ultra: one strut kite that meets expectations of a ram air lover

I'm not sure its much faster, but it does stay in the air better. So I can use the 9 in much less wind than the 8 pivot, more than 1m difference would suggest. The pivot is much more fun for powered boost tt riding. The Ultra more fun in less wind.

Re: Airush Ultra: one strut kite that meets expectations of a ram air lover

What would you recommend for use with a waveboard & twintip? I fly Naish Pivots 5-7-9 but would like something when wind is below 17-18 knots to have some fun on either waveboard (small waves as they're windbased) or twintip (won't go to the moon obviously but decent jumps and hangtime for some bac...
