Re: Corpus Christi vs South Padre Island

I don't know why South Texas is getting anonymous hate mail from the Pacific Ocean. :-? Maybe its the Stormbird who is responsible for the continuous and repeated posts we see coming from Hawaii calling for help to prevent beach closures. I hope the anarchy kiting philosophy works well for you guys ...

Re: Corpus Christi vs South Padre Island

The summer winds in south Texas consist of evening thermals driven by warming over the mainland and are much stronger in the west part of the Laguna Madre. The wind can totally pass over the island but be honking in the west bay. That said, Corpus would be a much better bet for you for the following...

Re: eclipse nano windrange

07 Nano = No 08 Nano = Yes You won't be very powered at the bottom end of the windrange but with the right board and conditions (i.e. spleene session and flat water or surf board) you can stay upwind. The Nano is built tough (heavy) so it will hindenburg in lighter winds if you put it straight over ...

Re: Flysurfer Psycho 3 10m for sale on ebay starting at $500

My Psycho 3 10m has been pretty much a 1 kite quivver for me racking up over 500 hours in the last year. I come into the beach pretty much at the same time as the 13M tube guys and ride it comfortably into the high 20's (knots). You can go over 30 knots but be prepared for some very high jumps. Supe...

Re: Anyone gone from Tubes to Foils???

I'm flying both so I go from tubes to flysurfer foils and back again regularly. I have lost one flysurfer to a wave but I have seen plenty of tubes destroyed too. In general FS kites relaunch fast and in most circumstances float over the waves even if not relaunched. My theory is to use a foil for k...

Re: Which shackle for suicide/5. line leash?

http://www.apsltd.com/Tree/d270000/e267250.asp This is what I use on the kite end. I use a bigger steel one on the harness end. Its very small and light and it never opens by accident and doesn't snag lines and fingers like the carabiner style. Stainless would be better but really its breaking load ...
