Re: Big Horns Road Closure :-(

Terminal B has not been deployed. I've been too busy working on my new house and harvesting elk. Here's a shot from last year when we parked it in the wrong spot, had to dig it out and move it a quarter mile...

Re: Thoughts on pulling a skier behind me?

Having a harness with a spreader bar makes life so much better. Without the bar your guts will get squozen (sp?) during take off and turns. I don't trust PVC. I've used water ski ropes and climbing rope rigged with a wooden dowel handle.

Re: snow kiting harness

I haven't used my Dakine Fusion in years because it is extremely uncomfortable during set up and break times. Several of my friends and I now use this. http://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/en-us/shop/climb/harnesses/big-gun-harness This harness is designed for big wall climbers to basically live in ...

Re: Opening day for the Bighorns

Mark, Heather and I cruised up on Sunday to find tracks at the county line and the east shoulder of Baldy. We found 15" of snow, light winds and wished we had 15m kites. The higher we got on Baldy the better the wind. I'll try to swipe Marks pics and post again... This is why I still live here! :thu...

Re: Early December Kite Trip out West-Advice on CO UT MT WY

Here is my personal advice, that would nail great kiting, gravity riding and sweet mountain adventures, all for about the same cost of purchasing lift tickets : Head to northern Wyomings Big Horn mountains, stay at the Bear Lodge, rent a snowmobile and score great winter rides everyday. :naughty: S...

Re: Big Horn Mountains Wyoming

What a fantastic weekend with a possible record of thirteen kites raping Baldy at once. The fresh snow is still coming down and the winds look good again for the weekend. :D WYDOT has cleared one lane in the rockslide area and don't expect to have the whole road cleared of snow until Memorial Day. T...

Re: Snowkiting question

I used to be a hardcore tele skier. At my age, my knees just cannot handle this sort of stress all day long. I do miss the feeling of those turns. My main partner and I both ride Scarpa AT boots, Fritsche bindings on a variety of skis. My new bindings will be Marker Dukes. When I'm near the car I'll...

Re: World Championship long distance snowkiting 2011

come on, where are the US teams? Any Canadians? Mix it up! Team: WYOMING-USA- seems two be the only team registered from North America for this World-Class Event.... :argue: We had a "team meeting" tonight and are committed to go to Norway in 10 weeks. Teams can still register and possibly fill in ...
