Re: Nigel no mates

Well said Dave K, and it really puts things into perspective, that at a spot not "dialed in" for hydrofoiling, it still evolves because it is soooo addictive, besides us "old" ones loving it for many reasons

Re: Who rides the tallest mast?

I got three masts: 83 - 91.5 - 100 cm. The 83 is NEVER used in waves, only in really light onshore winds as for me, impossible to ride in waves, compared. And yes, I have been out on the 83 in waves and big chop many times, by coincidence - not fun :( The 91.5 cm is good allround and used a lot, but...

Re: Nigel no mates

cwood and Kykeon, is this because you got lots of wind regularly ? Asking, as we got winds from zero to 40 knots and everything in between quite often. This is the typical low pressure weather systems in northern europe all year - occasionally in high presssure (= low or no wind) spring and early su...

Re: Line length, gybing and down-looping

No Regis, I am only talking about downlooping here, as this is what this thread is about :thumb:

Great turns you make, but if you got a lot of speed, you HAVE to turn before the kite, to keep lines tight - are you using bigger slower wings or faster wings ?

Re: Carbon foil cosmetic quality

I think you have to expect some small or big pinholes on the "non surface" areas, like the box connections fuselage or board, no problems at all with this. On the surfaces, there can be some smaller issues, but most often nothing you would complain about. What is PERFECT ? As said by racers, they sa...

Re: Line length, gybing and down-looping

I must say that in really marginal light wind, (say 4-6 knots) with my 15m medium/high ratio) , I first initiate the loop and then initiate the jibe only when the kite has turn 180 degree and is pointing in the new direction ; not sure it is the best technique in all cases, but it is the only way I...

Re: Foiling foot switches

Good to hear DukeSilver, it is SO rewarding when one succeed :thumb: Tom, yes the lines has just got some tension, not much but important it has, as too difficult otherwise. Eventhough the board is not really heeled over yet, important (maybe the angle from the kite cheats ?) I just looked at some n...

Re: Line length, gybing and down-looping

Not racing, but same principles I think, when you go fast downwind and downloop carving back and fourth: Kite up high (switch feet), and then do the turn while initiating the downloop. The loop will be a bit later as it takes some time for the kite to start turning. This way your kite will "follow" ...

Re: Drysuits circa 2018

Thanks for the feedback. Regarding the wetsuit sizing, do they take into consideration additional layers that will need to be worn in the sizing charts or is it wise to "size up"? I suppose I should confirm with the manufacturer of whatever suit I decide to go with but it would be good to know for ...
