Re: Older C-Kites as bad as they say?

Hey Stevo, I see that you are in Victoria according to your profile. First, there's a reason that no one is buying the old C kites for sale. Cook St (Dallas Rd beach) is a great summer spot locally but it is also a terrible, terrible, place to learn. Nitinaht has been cranking lately and the schools...

Re: US Coast Guard Rescue Responder Appreciation Day

It's enough that these guys received oversized compensation packages while the rest us barley stay afloat with high taxes. Now we have to kiss their asses to do a job they get paid too much to do. No thanks. ???? Seriously?!? LOL, that's the first time I have ever seen someone freakout on the Coast...

Re: wainman hawaii go pro attachment on the strut?

The first 18 inches or so of the strut from the leading edge towards the trailing edge is not fixed directly to the canopy. I use the camrig from Kitehero just fine with all sizes of my Wainmans. A hint, you may want to leave the strut slightly soft while attaching the rig and then finish pumping it...

Re: which freeride board for soft landings / weak knees?

@mr moon, no but I hear really great things. I was goign to mention that in my earlier post and then deleted it. I'd be interested in knowing too.
With Model 3's you can usually find a good one on Craigslist or ebay if you have patience....they have not changed much in the last few years.

Re: which freeride board for soft landings / weak knees?

Last summer I was kiting with two torn ACL's and was taking it pretty easy. I have tried a variety of twin tips. The two that I found easiest on my knees were the Ocean Rodeo Mako (2010 150x40) and the Wainman Hawaii Blunt v1 (130x40.5). I found that the Blunt took a little getting used to but in th...

Re: Vancouver Islander out on the Canadian West Coast

We are still figuring out Renfrew. We got skunked yesterday. What I think will work there is the temp differential between Lake Cowichan and Renfrew. We thought it was going to be good yesterday but then some lousy weather rolled in. You should consider coming to Tall Tree Music Festival, June 24-25...

Re: Cost Breakdown of Kite Package - Online Only vs Shop

I am in Canada and we do not have a local shop in my area. I have often thought of opening one but then I think of how annoying I can be as a consumer and decide not to. A few of my friends have talked about it as well and usually my answer to them is that I, and others, would likely come to their s...

Re: Vancouver Islander out on the Canadian West Coast

Hey Ni, Where on the island are you? There's a few of us likely heading to Port Renfrew from Victoria tomorrow. Should be a decent mix of wind and waves. The wind is not as strong as Nitinaht but I would argue that it is even more beautiful. Nitinaht is a great place to learn in addition to the crew...

Re: the best beginner kite

And what do you all think of the Wainman? Wainmans are what I learned on. I have found them incredibly simple to use and tweak, well constructed, and the service from the company and dealers have been phenomenal. The kite's stability, relaunch, and wind range is what I would say I have benefited fr...
