Retiring in or near Hatteras, NC- Outer Beach

Looking to retire in about 5 years- spend maybe 3-400K (or less) on a house accessible to OBX- bay side fine- any suggestions, places to explore? Currently on Long Island, NY. Thanks.

Re: Convert 5th element North into quad (back and forth)

The 5 line bar is more expensive than the four line- sell it and buy a four line.

Re: North Kiteboarding NBK - Why I will no longer buy north

I've had good experiences with North products. However I think the dealer service model does not work with most kiteboard school/distributors. You have a few guys in a shop trying to schedule lessons, take kiters out, etc.. They do not always have time to get on the phone and find parts, handle warr...

Re: Numbers of kiteboarding

@Skull: you're right, the definition is quite "large" but it happens that you buy something you're convinced you're going to use and then you change your mind after some time. Real kiters are the ones who actually do kite. What I think it's not influent is the number of the session per year, since ...

Re: Is it just me, or does gusty wind suck?

Gusty, shifty wind sucks especially when self launching. But I don't mind rigging for the gusts and just riding through the lulls. You can always go upwind a bit when it's blowing and sacrifice a bit of ground when the wind really drops.

Re: Funniest/most stupid thing you have seen at the beach

I think it's pretty funny when girls coming out of the water on a really windy day suddenly lose their panties in the gnarly shorebreak and you see them thinking: control the kite or the panties??? It's quite a dilemma. I automatically reach for the panties; thankfully the kite cooperates. I though...

Re: Any advice on kite repairs

I don't know, I have used a sail repair service to repair kites and never noticed a difference. Are the lines all attached the same way?

Re: Pump lube???

a buddy of mine swears by Fluid Film.....lanolin based, so no solvents. http://www.fluid-film.com/images/Lowes-homepage-banner.jpg but even that worries me a little ... residues from any of these options are going to end up inside your kite bladder. So whatever you use, it better be friendly to the...

Re: Help with how i should fix a cracked crazyfly board

Hope that works but if not I would sand it and get some glass cloth over it. Peel ply over the epoxy will give you a smoother finish.

Re: Links to websites with discount kite boarding gear

Don't forget guys, even if they say "in stock", it doesn't mean they are. Kite shop websites in Europe are notorious for this. Don't know about Europe, but in the US at least some are selling stock from the manufacturer which is then drop shipped to the customer. You pretty much have to jump on yea...
