Re: Long bar for waveriding

I love my bars on the larger setting for all kite sizes (wave riding or not), Airush smart bars, 62 cm I think. I always get guys kinda laughing at it. But I don't care I like it a lot, I find it easier to turn, more leverage and easier on my arms....you can kinda see how long my bar is..ha

Re: Surfing wind swells, what board?

Nice video! Great Sandbanks day today. 17 degrees in Nov. Feels like getting away with something! In good wind, your right, most are on pretty small standard shortboards, but once it drops decidedly under 20 knots, you can have more fun on a small wave design. The shortboard is rideable, but it bog...

Re: Surfing wind swells, what board?

http://vimeo.com/144253937 http://www.vimeo.com/144253937 Our last day at Great lake Ontario -- Sandbanks. Wind swell and awesome. We all use various version of shortboards. Control speed super well and can whip it around pretty good. I find that any surfboard that is too wide and thick bounces when...

Re: Sufboard size -- how small can I go?

there are so many things that go into a choice like this it is almost impossible to answer. i can tell you at 75 kg i ride everything from a 5'10" x 173/4" to a 5'2"x 18" and love them all for different types of riding. In general, smaller and a bit wider and flatter for powered up craziness and lo...

Re: FireWire fst w extra 6oz on deck withstand kiting?

I hate to dissagree but FST is way stronger than timbertek. From weekest to strongest i would rate their construction in this order. LFT,rapidfire, timbertek, fst, kite construction. You could be right about the FST being stronger than the Timbertek, but I got a Firewire Timbertek with the thought it ...

Re: FireWire fst w extra 6oz on deck withstand kiting?

I can't answer the question on the extra layer of glass, but just throwing out another idea if your buying new. Have a look at the firewire timber tek boards, they are light and very solid. I have the sweet potato in the kite construction and it is pretty light (lighter than its kite peers for sure)...

Re: Hydroflex - construction recommendation

Ha...ok, I'm sure the ill is the bomb for windy and big wave days! I agree that the Dump truck seems to a great to be paired with the iLL. I'm getting pretty excited about how it's going to ride, my favourite board I've used to date is my buddies custom PU board, but that would never last the punish...

Re: Hydroflex - construction recommendation

I contacted Roberts to get a little more perspective on the differences between the ill and the Black Punt, and this what they had to say: "The iLL is a normal shortboard designed for good surf or good surfers. It has a slightly wider nose and wider tail than similar shortboards to be more versatile...

Re: Hydroflex - construction recommendation

Thanks for the input, sounds like the valve will be ok.

The ill I think is more performance than the Black Punt, which is why I looking at the Black Punt. I'd go ill if I didn't already have the Magnum. Not a lot of reviews on this shape though.
