Re: Opinion on lessons

Short mast (60cm) and having 2 foot hooks so your feet are in the same place all the time has helped me alot. Went from feeling it was almost impossible to not that hard at all :D

Take Off Speed

What are the minimum speeds needed to "Foil Up"? I have read that some people say you only need 8 knots of board speed to foil up on the Liquid Force rocket fish but I finding it hard to get up on the foil unless I am travelling at quite a speed (I would say 12 knots at least). Is the lift created b...

Re: Controlling Height

I think the secret is to very slowly transfer weight from the front to back foot. The best way I have found is to lean forward and then slowly move your hips back to apply more back foot pressure. I think positioning your feet so it is "Hard to foil up" helps. A shorter mast also helps since - I am ...

Re: Going Over Swell with Hydrofoil

Well 95% of my riding is in swell between 1m and 4m. As you hit into the swell the wave energy will lift you up. When you crest the swell you will need to push down with the front foot too so you follow the contours of the swell. With smaller shorter period swell you can "pump" through it like a bm...

Re: Going Over Swell with Hydrofoil

Is the basic idea to ascend rapidly with the wave with back foot pressure then dive down hard on the back side of the wave? Yeah, that's basically it, but I feel you have to do less input than you think you should. My guess is there is a high pressure area in front of the wave and a low pressure ar...

Going Over Swell with Hydrofoil

It would be great if some more experienced hydrofoilers could give me advice about going over larger swell on a hydrofoil. Is the basic idea to ascend rapidly with the wave with back foot pressure then dive down hard on the back side of the wave?

Re: Epic Renegade Infinity anyone?

Update on Infinity - got some good, long jumps on a very light wind day at West Dennis beach. Another guy had a 14m TS and had trouble moving and going upwind, while I could jump around 17ft on a TT. Will take that! Definitely lots of pull in the kite. I disagree like PF would usually say. How can ...
